Manly Pride Debacle

Really??? That's interesting, I'd like to know more.
.
Is this one of those ones where I tell the story and then you tell me it was actually gods guiding and invisible hand that gave me the strength to carry on…..

Lol not really, just wondering how you became so bitter and twisted?

As I previously posted, the NRL's own statistics acknowledge that 42% of LGBTI people hide their sexuality or gender identity at "social & community events".

Hide their sexuality? who in gods name goes to the football to show their sexuality?

What exactly are you hiding or more precisely how do you DISPLAY your sexuality and why do you feel you need to. 😳

I go to the footy, put on my jeans and my bunnies guernsey. I notice others in the Souths gear and smile

it beggars belief that these long bows are thrown into the discussion

What the??? Really?? Because I don’t share your views I’m bitter and twisted……
I don’t know but I read this somewhere can you help me understand what it means
🤣
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”

Meanwhile, Manly Supporters’ Group spokesman Robert Simeon has taken aim at the club’s management over the execution of its plan to become the first NRL club to run out in an LGBTQI+-themed jersey.

Simeon declared fans would be furious if the Manly lost the potential top-eight deciding game on Thursday due to a lack of consultation with and understanding of its players.

“The Polynesian players are deeply religious and if the chairman of the Manly Sea Eagles (Scott Penn) is only just working that out now it just highlights how little he knows about the makeup of these people,” Simeon told Sunrise.

“I just think he’s trying to buddy up with Hugh Jackman, I’m not sure if Hugh Jackman is interested in that.

They knew this wasn’t going to go down well which is why they kept it a secret. You don’t print thousands and thousands of jumpers overnight.

“They’re gonna be calling for blood, it won’t be the players it’ll be directed back to the hierarchy of Manly

“My message to the Manly fans is very simple, don’t be judgmental put yourselves in the shoes of these fine young men and ask yourself the same question how would you feel if you were put in that position.”

That means we shouldn't judge others else the Lord judge us.

Let me put it to you this way...

We have "random Souths guys" right who, thanks to the fact that rugby league doesn't cause too much random violence off the pitch like, for example, European ultras culture, can go to a sporting event in Souths colours without any major concern about violence against them just for wearing a Souths jersey.

Now, you might find 1 Souths fan at a random event or you might find a few. They don't have to hide who they support because most people understand that a footy team you follow is just a footy team.

Now, imagine a hypothetical LGBTIQA+ person - let's say, a gay man - wanting to go to an event with their -let's say, same-sex gay male - partner.

This person may not have the same confidence to hold hands, hug or kiss his partner out of fear of persecution. Have you never kissed your partners or hugged someone at a game of football out of fear that someone would take exception?

Congratulations, you're lucky - not everyone else is and, again, 42% of LGBTI people have hidden their sexuality (which isn't just about sex, it affects their romantic life too) in similar circumstances.

It's not a long bow when this stuff is actually happening and keeping people out of supporting their team in the same way the rest of us are, because they don't know if they're going to come home in the same state they left it.

It's also been reported that, as recently as 2017, there were still gangs going around with the intent of attacking LGBTIQ+ people in the northern beaches with baseball bats.

This isn't all hypothetical - this is STILL happening and (statistically speaking) to people who probably are Rabbitohs through and through.

ok, I can’t agree with a lot of that. Neither of us will change our minds so good luck with your endeavours👐

Pretty sure the Manly club knew what response they'd get from the players before they did this ,hence the total lack of correspondence with the players. This arrogance has now caused massive damage and if they get slaughtered which is highly possible and miss a spot in the 8, those arrogant administrators should be looking for a new job. I couldn't care less either way as I have no fondness for the silvertails, but if I was a player there I'd be fuming right now. I'd say this will split that club in two.
