I'm not sure why NSW have to complicate everything so much.
They seem to be more focused on meditating, walking barefoot on the grass and trying to be cool.
As Jack Gibson used to say, pick your 13 best players then work out where to play them.
In the first 13 rounds Api, Luai, Tedesco, Frizell, Turbo, JAC, Yeo, Young and Hynes have not been anywhere near the form that demands selection.
In the same period Graham, Cook, Walker, Klemmer, Edwards etc have.
What is so hard or difficult about picking the most in-form players, coaching them, and sending them out to play? It really doesn't seem that complex. The one and only reason a player should get selected for highest honours is consistent recent form.
I don't give a shit who has done the job before, you don't pick a club side on form from 12 months ago, why the hell would you at Origin level?
As for a coaching option, there are coaches around who could take it on, with less Rooster/Panther history and politics.
Michael Maguire with his intensity short term might work, there is Hasler, Flanagan.
What about co-coaches or an experienced first grader as assistant? Any of the guys named above would be less political and very capable.
One thing for certain, the Blues Mafia made up of Fittler, Buderus, Johns and Alexander etc does not work, has not worked for years and will continue to not work.
They need an entire sweep out of all the dead wood and a rebuild with no politics, favorites or anyone remotely connected to the failed Blues mafia.
