Hell yea Queensland!! What a win! That is seriously one on the great Origin wins of all time. NSW looked to have wrapped it up when it went to 18-16, and with 12 men and all the injuries the Maroons had, they really should have gone on with it. Everyone jokes about 'the Queensland spirit,' but last night is a perfect example of why it's actually a thing. With 12 men they score two of the great Origin tries, amazing! Especially that one to the Hammer.
For the Blues, it seems the knives are out today and rightly so. A lot of questions need to be asked. They got a lot of selections wrong, and it showed. Despite dominating field position, their attack was awful. The Penrith connection was shit apart from one try. Hahahaha, good to see.
I'd been saying to a few workmates and friends yesterday that this Origin opener will be one of the most interesting openers ever. And, I think interesting is probably the best way to describe it.
What a game! It was tit for tatt for most of it and I really enjoyed it. Gripping contest. I do concede the game could have been better though. Still thought it was a great game, but I wouldn't call it one of those 'classic Origin's.' Far too over-officiated by Klien, he refed it like and NRL game rather than an Origin. I lost count of the number of times I said, "that isn't a penalty in Origin." And then that sin bin was just an absolute joke. Mean game but that would be my only criticism.
I've been thinking all along that whoever won Game 1 would go on to win the series, and I'll stand by that. Going to be extremely tough for NSW to win in Game 2 at Suncorp but we'll see. Can't wait!
