The Pinball Wizard is even on the nose on the Chookpen, some posts on his game last night:
hate to say this, but Teddy...
Is a hog.
He is killing all backline moves.
and
Struggles to break a tackle lately Looks a pale shadow of his former self.
and
I think this will be his last series.
and
Edwards is the better player these days.
and
The concerning part has been his defensive efforts tonight, the missed tackle on Cobbo, the slip for the Tabuai-Fidow try and then being out jumped by a prop forward on his own line.
These are as much about effort and composure as they are talent or form.
As a captain of the Roosters and Blues this is probably the most concerning part of his game at the moment.
and
Never seen a bloke fall off a cliff as badly as this before. Carried his club from right into origin and got absolutely spanked. ****ing woeful.
Freddy is gonna drop him I bet. That egotistical **** loves a scapegoat and needs to do something to keep his cushy gig.
and
Agree with the sentiments - he's always been a big ball hog, but it's really impacting those around now with his loss in speed and zippiness. Hard conversations need to be had with him on evolving his attacking game to give opportunities to those around him.
and
Was thinking the same all thru the game.
Dead set hopeless Hog Has-been.
Dylan Edwards is the game best fullback. Teddy needs to think about retiring.
and
Teddy is well past his best. He has been ordinary for some time now and should never play origin again.
and
Sorry, Tedesco ain't got what it takes anymore. Being stood up and falling over trying to turn after the Hammer was shameful.
Like Freddy at the nines that year, his mind knows what he wants to do but his body can't do it anymore.
and
Nah teddy was shocking tonight. He just loves to run sideways and cramp the players around him.
What has me concerned is we crumbled at the media pressure applied on us over re-signing teddy, yes he is our captain but no one is bigger then the club and we must always plan ahead…
and
His run metres are a reflection of how many times he hogged the ball instead of organising his outside backs. They all got a cold around him
Stats don't tell you everything and watching the game you could see Walsh fitting in much better with his own team
And that last try was very much Teddy's fault. Whose other fault was it? Collins for outleaping him? You could say others didn't get back quickly enough but clutching at straws if you think his teammates were more to blame. Teddy practices for those moments.
