The indigenous had no water proof dwellings, no food security, no medical help, low life expectancy, only had very primitive tools, life was harsh, next time its pouring rain in winter imagine being out in it with a young family or a baby and no clothes or shelter, i doubt any of them would put their hand up to go back and live as they did.
Even if the date was changed i bet the same crowd would still protest, its what they do best.

I cannot think of a single reason that would motivate an indigenous person to celebrate Jan 26th, anyone who thinks they should or would has a non functional brain.
