John Stossel

I'm not attacking you. I am simply disagreeing, and as I pointed out you presented many off topic videos in other threads (such as the Sky News thread). You just present the videos without discussion so not sure why you expect anyone to comment on them? I've watched a couple and find him pretty irrelevant to Australia as it all relates to what he thinks is happening in the US. Your last video was about the education system in the US. Who cares?
This thread isn't about me or sky news.

No it isn't, but you posted irrelevant videos in that thread. Again, if you start thread like this, and post off topic stuff in other thread, then this is what you get. You reap what you sow.

In the sky news thread I tried to just post about sky news but you guys kept posting other things and took it off-topic. shrug.gif

Mega, this is a John Stossel thread, can you please start your own thread for the other stuff.

Just because you titled the thread John Stossel, that doesn't mean only ****ing John Stossel can be discussed. His shitty videos discuss certain topics and it is still relevant to discuss those topics. You posted a JS video about wokeness so I too posted a video about wokeness. A much better one too I might add from the very intelligent and funny Bill Maher. One I would have thought you would have agreed with since it was highly anti-extremist woke which I am too. What are you whining about?

My video by Contapoints was also on topic as it discussed the same things Stossel did in your previous video. I posted it as a slight dig as I know you aren't particularly fond of trans people, but she's actually very well qualified to talk about such matters, if you look past the presentation.

I think Capitalism is a huge problem for many reasons, the major one being environmental. I think someone worked out we'd need 4 planet earths to keep going at our current rate of overconsumption. I would hate to live in a society like the US where there is massive poverty, no universal health, greater violence, and massive homelessness. Stossel seems to argue we don't need welfare?

Communism isn't the answer either as it also relies on increased production to create wealth. Plus I am against the government control that goes along with it. I see socialism as a more logical compromise between the two, but it's not perfect either. Stossel lumps socialism with Communism, which it is not. He has no idea of many issues he discusses.

Perhaps if you discussed the videos instead of just bombarding us with them you'd get some discussion.

I basically agree with what Bill Maher said, now don't start any arguments in this thread, you and andy get too fired up.

"A shocking new Greenpeace report reveals that most types of single-use plastic are not recyclable in the United States. Don’t let this report turn you off on recycling. Plastic packaging is the problem, not recycling."

Recycling Plastic

Because plastic can be lightweight and thin, and yet it is still extremely durable it’s an extremely common manufacturing material. It can easily be colored or molded into different shapes making very versatile. However, plastic takes hundreds of years to naturally break down, so it frequently sits in a landfill after it is thrown away. Plastic waste takes up about 20% of our landfills today.

You’ve probably seen the numbers printed on the bottom of plastic containers. This number is the RIC number, or the resin identification code number. Each number represents a different type of plastic.

When your plastic is recycled, the products are sorted based on their RIC number. This keeps each type of plastic separate so that the different molecular chains that make up the plastic material don’t get mixed up together. After being sorted by RIC number, the plastics are sorted by color. They’re washed then cut into small pieces

about the size of a quarter. Lastly, they are melted and shaped into tiny pellets, which are sold to manufacturers to be melted again and shaped into a new product.
