2024 International Footy

No, I'm totally serious. If you're picking the best two centres available for Australia Latrell Mitchell should have been the first bloke picked . Turbo was far from impressive this year coming back from injury. Couldn't care less how many games Latrell played as Meninga obviously wasn't picking this team on form or Turbo wouldn't have been in it.

Righto mate

Latrell hasn’t played enough footy over the past 3-4 years to be an automatic pick for Australia anymore. If he’s healthy, mentally and physically, he’d be automatically considered 100% but I don’t see him as an automatic selection anymore even for Origin if there are other options unless it’s a strategy Hail Mary play.

Could just be the bitter Souths fan in me but I want him to prove himself with and for us first. I’d rather Campbell graham get the Origin spot if he plays well on his return. He was basically selected when last available but they wouldn’t play him injured.

I’d love an offseason of absolutely no Latrell content other than those observational training photos. Then I’d like him to come out and just play like he does (without brain snap grubby stuff) and then before there was legit talk - temporarily retire from rep duties to focus on and repay Souths.

That type of next 6 months would get me back on the Trell express.

Mal Meninga is a terrible coach. He’s the same as Kevvie for QLD. But not selecting Latrell, even his reasoning - as oddly open as his wording can be - to play Turbo and Hammer in the centres isn’t one of his bad calls.

Mal gets the results, unless you’re coached by him I don’t know how anyone can bag him
At that level they pretty much all know how they’re going to play. It comes down to Mal just being Mal & getting them ready to play

Meninga should be sacked after this. He could have picked Latrell and we would have walked over all these teams. He scores both those tries that Turbo missed. This game truly show just what a difference our fullback would have made to this team and also how utterly pathetic Meninga is as a coach. The game should have been a blowout given Australia's dominance after that first 20 minutes.
As I stated earlier, MM has done us no favours with either Murray or Trell.
But he wants nrl players to pledge their loyalty.
Not impressed.

Yep like an AFB role. I’d have Keaon play 55mins at prop
Personally, I am a little confused with where Keon is at just at the moment.
Obviously he is not playing as a go forward middle under Meninga.
On the other hand, he's not an edge linebreak type.
Just too often he drifts scross field trying to link up with someone to hit the line straight and hard.
I trust WB will settle on his best position and playing strategy and just let him loose...so we can reap the rewards of a very talented player.

19. Keaon Koloamatangi — 7

How good is this guy? Helped hold Dylan Edwards up in the 36th minute and began exerting himself on the contest late in the piece, ball playing and damaging whenever he ran the ball. Finished with 84 metres from nine runs.

I think my main point was the fact that Latrell was available , but Meninga used a bullshit excuse not to pick him. He's since come out and said Latrell should be our club captain if Murray isn't there so I think he knows he fcd up . I think anyone who watched that game today if given a chance of seeing Latrell hitting those areas that were open out wide knows how much of an impact he could have had. I think he would have scored both tries where Turbo couldn't get the ball down, or at least created tries for Lomax, and he could have easily done it at an 80% fitness level playing in the centres, and that scoreline would have been closer to 40 or more than the measly 20 they ended up with. Doctors declared him fit and any past Aussie coach with half a brain would have at least named him in that squad. Sorry for the rant, but I love seeing Latrell playing for our country.

My point is that he is yet to serve his suspension for the most recent hoopla and picking between him or good guy turbo who has worked himself back to match fit for this, I think Mal, rightly or wrongly, includes this when it comes who deserves to represent Australia.

Mal saying he should be next in line at Souths could be that he wants it known he still sees Latrell and the potential he has to a team, a club, a community. Also, he sees a leader there and hopefully a penny has dropped and everyone starts to see a new trajectory for LM from next year on. Which we will absolutely benefit from too.

The way they’ve handled his suspension is unsurprisingly amateurism and hopefully that’s being worked on in the background. Would love to see a statement that screams “we went behind closed doors legal route and they had no choice” meaning he’s free for round 1!

As i stated earlier he has done souths NO favours with Trell or Cam.
Mismanagement in both cases.

I was led to believe that cam kept his injury to himself? What did Mal do wrong there, sorry?

Yes, but should he have even had to serve a suspension ? No police were involved and Latrell did not plead guilty to anyone. For all we know that photo could have been photoshopped. As I said, Kangaroo Court, so Meninga has made his own assumption, as have many of the Souths supporters on here. Meninga trying to be a pillar of society and making judgement on Latrell given his past is laughable. Anyone who wants to go back through his past will see our current coach of Australia was no choirboy. I expect I'll get feedback from this post , but anyone wanting to have a vent go and look for factual evidence and not a suspicious photo proving nothing. Even his club's supporters have hung Latrell out to dry on this one, but he can't take a shit without someone wanting to rip into him so totally expected.
