2024 International Footy

I think my main point was the fact that Latrell was available , but Meninga used a bullshit excuse not to pick him. He's since come out and said Latrell should be our club captain if Murray isn't there so I think he knows he fcd up . I think anyone who watched that game today if given a chance of seeing Latrell hitting those areas that were open out wide knows how much of an impact he could have had. I think he would have scored both tries where Turbo couldn't get the ball down, or at least created tries for Lomax, and he could have easily done it at an 80% fitness level playing in the centres, and that scoreline would have been closer to 40 or more than the measly 20 they ended up with. Doctors declared him fit and any past Aussie coach with half a brain would have at least named him in that squad. Sorry for the rant, but I love seeing Latrell playing for our country.
Where Turbo was held back I could see a Latrell flick pass to Lomax to score. That's one of the things Latrell can do probably better than anyone else weather he has been playing much or not. I also don't know why Mal suggested Latrell for captain in Murrays absence when Cody would be the next and obvious choice, in my opinion. It is an interesting proposition though, but appart from Cody, there may be one or 2 more in front of Latrell for Captain.

Sets up well for next season with a 3-way tournament between Samoa, NZ and Tonga.

Sending Australia over to England will do wonders for this tournament.

Firstly, it’ll mean people watch the England games, and secondly, those 3 nations in a tri-series at this point is peak entertaining international footy.

Just need to hope all the Pacific nations halves (Hughes, Katoa and Luai) are healthy to keep things tight.

Agree with all of that

More importantly one of those games would have served as a suspension.

On his excuse for not picking him, and yes it was an excuse not a reason, How many weeks was Moses out for prior to being selected?

I wonder if WB watched the game. Havili was quite solid as a dummy half. Certainly, on that display, an option over Pete M

I was sort of thinking the same thing.

Havili is an interesting one.

Firstly, people are way too harsh on his 2024. He was injured and never really got going.

Having said that, he was 100% a top 17 player for us this year and there’s every chance that’s true again next year (especially if Schuster doesn’t kick on).

He’s great for momentum coming off the bench as a prop.

But given our 9 woes, the idea of Havili starting the match and then throwing to a speedy 9 off the bench is no more far fetched than the raft of other limited experiences 9’s getting a gig we’ve speculated about.

He’s arguably as/more bankable than Mamouzelos.

I was led to believe that cam kept his injury to himself? What did Mal do wrong there, sorry?
Not quite.
He admitted he did know but didnt think any more of it because Cam really wanted to play.
I just hope the lesson has been taken on board both for coaching staff AND players including our coaches and trainers...
If you have an injury of any sort, get it checked out by the professionals.

That was a fantastic final!! What an awesome game! Tonga really took it to Aus, but I wasn't surprised to see them prevail in the end. Liva and Keaon played well again.

Thank God my Kiwis stay in the Cup!

Loyal but misguided you are, bundy.

I really do not feel bundy is being misguided at all, and I think we have been made to believe we didn't watch what we watched, or, we have poor memories.

Trell came back from suspension in round 10 against the dragons.

In round 11 we lost a very winnable game against the cowboys where he got 1 point in the prides POTY votes.

We then went on to win our next 5 games straight.

Eels - Win - 2 points
Bye
Titans - Win - 3 points
Broncos - Win - 3 points
Sea Eagle - Win - SOO
SOO - Set up and scored tries in a resounding victory like a boss.

At this stage, the media are now starting to turn like the subhuman filth they are and Latrell is a great guy, the confidence he brought to the NSW camp was obvious according to the scribes and alls well in Trell land.

Eels - Win - 3 points.

Injured, out for the season.

That form guide is easily better than Mitch Moses. Easily. Mitch Moses has never, and should never be an auto pick for Australia.

So how is Bundy wrong here?

Just another point here. We have two centres picked who are fullbacks in club land . Out of Turbo, Hamiso and Latrell regardless of so called fitness or morals Latrell sh.ts all over these other two for experience and talent in the specific position of centre. Meninga left Latrell out because of what feedback he'd cop from the media and fans baying for his blood. Meninga is part of the media parasites now and his failure to have a talent like Latrell not even in the squad has shown just how inept he is as our country's coach . Latrell having to miss our first game is all on this bloke. NRL would have waived the suspension had he been named in that squad and Meninga knew that.

Dude you’re preaching to the choir talking Trells form up. I was so happy for him after Origin. Felt like for all of us it was good to see him dominate in that level again.

I just want him to stay on the field.

Ive also never ever said that I agreed with the suspension and how they’ve implemented it is pathetic especially once proving his fitness. It’s a crock.

But it’s still a game in disrepute type suspension.

I don’t think Bundy is wrong - but I don’t think it’s on form.

I think though to ignore what suspension he’s serving and rag Meninga for not picking him on form is a misguided effort because I feel like Mal has decided on his own or collectively that representing your country is an honour that deserves certain standards etc and sadly serving an off field suspension doesn’t live up to those standards.

I just don’t think it’s actually just on form in this instance. Happy to be wrong if I’ve gotten anything wrong.

I get the rationale for leaving Mitchell out.

Hammer and Turbo finished the year playing good footy, Trell didn’t.

But Trell has shown he’s one of those special players where he doesn’t really need a lead in of displayed form to walk into that sort of environment and dominate.

If there’s a process to selection, I get why they went with Hammer and Turbo.

Moses was out from round 19, was he not?
He was deemed fit enough and ready enough
Meninga clearly left latrell out for “team culture” reasons and not for his stated reason

If Turbo and Hammer were injured, Trell would have got a call.

Halves were slim pickings for Australia. No one had Moses and Deardon as the Aussie halves 6 months ago.
