The USA has been litter with corrupt politicians from Nixon to Clinton to Trump & Biden. Those in between that lot are not much better.

Would it be better if we had governments that commission studies and receive reports with recommendations, and they actually implement them all, instead of cherry picking a few that are politically difficult?
In my leftie bubble I think that the Dems are better than the Reps, but there would have to be some initiatives that the Reps have that are good. The problem is that politics mean that some good ideas don't see the light of day. But then again who decides if they are good, if not the public? But is the public informed and engaged enough, or do we just sit in our bubbles and cheer on our "side."
I learnt the other day that the top tax rate in the US was over 80%. At least on earnings above a certain amount. And this was in the post war period of the 50's. That was the boom time. Rich people were still rich, the middle class was never in better shape, and the economy was in rude health. But who would dare propose this in government? And the irony is most people who would vote against it would never ever be affected by it.

Talked about all the Dems talked about were niche issues that, whilst important to people, weren't high on people's list of priorities. Addressing racism didn't engage black people for example, they've lived with it all their lives. But cost of living did.
You and I could argue who would be better for the US economy, but the problem is the Dem's didn't. They just assumed voters knew that they'd done a better job.

Here's an honest perspective.

Agree with her on some things but at about the 3 minute mark talks about the comment that the cost of living rising is due to misinformation shows how out of touch the panelist on The View is. I'm pretty sure that the panelist is saying that despite economists (from Goldman Sachs I think) saying that the most people are better off under the Democrats, people don't hear this due to misinformation. Being a bit disingenuous there.

Very true kent, added to that Biden declared that “if you don’t vote for me you ain’t black“ Obama was enlisted and dog whistled the same thing.

Not exactly sure what you mean by that mate. If I’m on the right track I can say governments do commission reports. I think the problem is anyone can find a report or study to back up their stance.
Kind of like, we need a fact checker to check on the fact checkers
