Movies: The Best and The Worst!

Shawshank Redemption
A Time To Kill
Boyz in the Hood
Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Dazed and Confused
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (what a cast before they were known)
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Interstellar
No Country for Old men
Back to the Future (Trilogy)
Raiders of the Lost Arc

I was actually going to post this on the music thread after I watched it yet again. One of my all time faves.
I rarely come across anyone who has actually seen it😱

I saw it at the movies when it came out, probably early 80's?

Have not seen it since.

The Presley movies, they were all horror shows!
The Gladiators a new TV show,I can hardly wait.Fark.
Sorry off topic!
In partial defence of Elvis films, there were four movies made before he got drafted and two of these -
King Creole and Jailhouse Rock - are fantastic.
But yes from the early 60s onwards they were indeed horror shows

My favourite movie of all time would be the original Time Machine with Rod Taylor. I was always fascinated with time travel so this movie just totally did it for me. Still watch it quite regularly.

A couple of other faves would be 12 Angry Men and Anatomy of a Murder.

Fave Xmas movie of all time is the original Miracle on 34th Street, it is just so charming.

Worst of all time would be any Star Wars movie, and both the old and the new Blade Runner.
The most recent Blade Runner was particularly bad and boring.
The original Star Wars was great IMO. That opening scene with the star destroyer that just went on and on, it absolutely hit an 8 year old boy's imagination in the right spot.
And Rogue One is a great movie.
The rest are nowhere near these two and I would not miss them.

Grimsby has to be the funniest movie ever I reckon.
But just by a hair, there are a lot out of brilliant ones out there.

I think King Creole was his best movie.

As for his later movies, Flaming Star wasn't too bad.

Django Unchained
Clockwork Orange
Don't Look Up

Anything with James Stewart
PS- I never watched CLOCWORK when I was young, as you would expect, but my brother had an album with the music. loved it.
'I'm singing in the rain....'

I love tho old noir films like the ones Bogart & Bacall starred in. The Big Sleep & To have and have not

if you also do I’m sure you’d love Body Heat. Kathleen Turner, William Hurt & Mickey Rorke….when he was good

It had it all; incredible storyline, great acting, wonderful music (John Barry) beautiful cinematography and full of atmosphere (you could feel the suffocating heat and humidity of South Florida in the Summer).

Shyster lawyer Ned Racine (William Hurt) begins a passionate affair with Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner), wife of a wealthy Florida businessman (Richard Crenna). With the help of one of his criminal clients, bomb maker Teddy Lewis (Mickey Rourke), Ned hatches a scheme to kill Matty's husband so that they can run away together with his money. But complications build upon double-crosses, launching the hapless lawyer into a situation far more treacherous than he imagined.

Casablanca captured the times, the rendition of the Marseillaise at Ricks was well and truly heartfelt.Great!
Paths of Glory.
To Kill a Mockingbird.
Dances with Wolves.
The Stoned Ranger.

I love Film Noir.

It's why I like Youtube so much, just do a search on "film noir" and you just get an endless list of old movies to watch, and it's free. Trouble with me is I often don't know what I've watched as I don't remember the titles, I have to watch the first five minutes before I know if I have seen it.

Another movie that popped into my head this morning was a science fiction called Starman with Jeff Bridges in which he played an alien, haven't seen it for years, but really liked it at the time.

Another movie genre I enjoy is Hollywood musicals.

I am a huge fan of Gene Kelly and enjoy just about anything with Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Donald O'Connor, Fred Astaire etc etc.

A wonderful movie if you have never seen it .........IF. Malcolm McDowell's first movie. You could see the brilliance shine through.
