Match Discussion Round 11: Rabbitohs v Cowboys

So what would your team be?
3 players different to last week and some positional changes…..feels like there has been changes
Taane would never play first grade in my side again! I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’d prefer AJ to Latrell at fullback, or even Wighton! Mamouzelos starting with Cook coming on to run, run, run backend of each half! Duncan was one of our best the other night, I’d start him, and use Havili as a prop!

You look at the Cowboys side and it makes absolutely no sense that they are where they are on the ladder.

Good to see Gagai and AJ back.

Looking at the squad - barring injury - I am 99.99% sure we will go with the listed 1 tp 17. Though the starting pack may change.

Good to see AJ back and I think Gagai deserves his chance as well…

ITT to Centre is ok in eliminating his limits under the high ball but it gives the cowboys a definite point of attack at speed. In Attack does he have the critical final pass in him? ITT could do ok in the back row or even as a stand in prop - he’s not shy of carrying it up and he has size - but does he have the stamina? I just can’t see Milne in the forwards unless he has been training there. He’s safe under the high ball I guess and can carry it up but his lack of discipline is a big risk.

I feel if you give someone a debut you give him a few weeks to show his stuff so I think French was entitled to hold his place on the bench.

ITT has played his best footy in reserves at right centre. Looks way more comfortable there. Yes it's reserve grade, but interested to see how it pans out to first grade.

At least with AJ and Gagai we have two wingers who will actually turn and chase

Still don't understand how Havili starts ahead of Duncan.

Duncan been training and playing as lock in reserve grade, should be a straight swap for Murray and Duncan is a better player and we looked much better with him on the field.

Happy with the backline, you could switch Wighton and Trell but either way they need to change the defensive structure of the fullback defending in the line when we in our 20 metres defending, fullback needs to be sweeping and expecting a kick.

To be a broken record each week, Mamo needs to be starting hooker and playing 80 mins, if not 80 than 60 mins at least.

Cook should be the bench warmer.

Anyways hopefully we don't concede 5 plus tries...

The way they treat tallis I'm surprised French didn't take his spot.

Agree about cook.

Latrell at fullback again. Oh boy.

Team’s up.

1- Latrell Mitchell
2- Alex Johnston
3- Jack Wighton
4- Izaac Tu’itupou Thompson
5- Jacob Gagai
6- Cody Walker (c)
7- Dion Teaupa
8- Davvy Moale
9- Damien Cook
10- Sean Keppie
11- Keaon Koloamatangi
12- Jai Arrow
13- Siliva Havili

Interchange:

14- Peter Mamouzelos
15- Tallis Duncan
16- Thomas Burgess
17- Taane Milne
18- Gehamat Shibasaki
19- Matthew French
20- Adam Christensen
21- Bayleigh Bentley-Hape
22- Liam Le Blanc
That's still a decent enough side.

Open thread sees a bit of chatter oh yep more Cook rhetoric as usual give the bloke a break he was very good last week and still people want him dropped or very limited mins off the bench makes no sense to me when Pete hasn’t shown anything to show he’s better than Cook. Pete may be more crafty but his passing game and service is slower especially with long passes and he has to work on his defence more.

If Pete was better Hornby and Furner would be starting him over Damien but they won’t due the effort areas Damien provides and his fitness.
