Here we go....... Here we friggin gooooo!!!

Boy I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am to be making this thread!! It's that time of the year where our 2025 Pre-Season begins in ONE WEEK! Yep, next week, our prep for 2025 is officially underway and I couldn't be more excited!

It's a new Pre-Season and the start of a brand-new era for us. The Wayne era take 2, and hopefully, the start of a massive redemption era.

Honestly, this Pre-Season is one of the most important in our club's history. That might sound like an exaggeration, but I really do believe that. We have to nail this period and get it right. We failed at that in 2024, and paid for it for the entire Season. The same simply cannot happen going into 2025. It's time to get our shit together, cut the crap and raise the standards to help raise our great club back to where it should be. That all starts with Pre-Season, and we just have to get it right. The pressure is somewhat on.

I have no doubt about it that we will. Wayne will ensure we will. After his meeting with them before the holidays, the players should be under no allusions as to what sort of shape they must return in, and they should be under no allusions as to what is expected of them. There will be no more shortcuts, no more accepting mediocracy, and no more bullshit whatsoever. Everyone must lift, and Wayne will drive that. Surely the players themselves will be tired of losing and will have that fire in the belly to get it right now.

I guess the only positive of missing the Finals is that you start your Pre-Season for the next year basically as soon as possible, and with what's being going on lately, we need that.

I'm excited. I just cannot wait to rip in already!

Our journey back to the top begins next Wednesday...... buckle up..... strap in.

Together, Unbreakable.

Glory, Glory

Like your new threads Callmack1!

Anybody know I pre season schedule of games?
Not sure anything has been announced except the Las Vegas games?

Last year the draw was released mid Nov.

Shield location has been announced and dated as Feb, but I don’t believe we have an actual date.

Anyone have a heads up re training schedule?
I recall last year that training began at Redfern before moving to Hefron, I'm wondering if they’ll start the year like that again

Thanks for the new threads @Callmack1 love them thanks for putting the time into it.

We will be right mate 2024 was a dark year but we have been through worse but we’ve moved on from that now and going through hard times makes the joyous times that much more enjoyable.

I am excited for 25 whilst our squad is still somewhat unbalanced I think we have enough to get back into the top 8 mate anything short of that next year is a failure. In Wayne we trust!

Shoulder to shoulder we stand stronger together I say and yes Together Unbreakable!

Now for Wayne and the lads to really rip in this pre season I’m sure they will!

So, I have just been informed that our Pre-Season actually kicks off next Wednesday 6th of November, not Monday.

It also sounds like it'll all be at Heffron, no Redfern this Season.

I will admit that annoys me a bit.

The clear promise from the club was that they wouldn't "abandon" Redfern and would hold regular training sessions there.

After the pre-Christmas period last pre-season they haven't been back.

I think it underlines the corporate double speak that is pervasive at the Club and clubs more generally these days.

And I'm superstitious enough (who isn't as a Souths supporter) to think some of our ills are because we've forgotten our roots.

(and no, this isn't about my cafe. I got very little business from the 1st grade squad, and get a lot from the juniors when they're playing there).

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the football department coaching structure and new staff appointments ahead of the 2025 season.
As per the announcement made in May this year, Wayne Bennett will be the NRL Head Coach for at least season 2025 through to 2027.

Supporting Coach Bennett will be NRL Assistant Coaches Ben Hornby and Steve Antonelli. Hornby continues his tenure with the Rabbitohs which began in 2020 as a Development Coach before being promoted to senior Assistant Coach in 2022. Hornby took the reins of the first grade side as NRL Interim Head Coach midway through the 2024 season. Antonelli returns to the Rabbitohs following a brief stint with the Parramatta Eels, having coached the Rabbitohs NSW Cup side in 2021 and becoming an NRL Assistant Coach in 2022.
South Sydney legend John Sutton will continue in his role as Development Coach, working with the Club’s elite young talent to ensure integration and alignment across all grades from NRL to under 17s. Former Rabbitohs premiership-winning Assistant Coach, Wayne Collins, will return to the Club in 2025 as NSW Cup Head Coach.
The Rabbitohs have appointed a new Head of Performance for season 2025, with Trent Elkin joining the Club. Elkin has extensive experience in Rugby League high performance programs including stints at the Bulldogs, Eels, Sharks and with the NRL Referees, most recently with Parramatta as Head of Performance. Tom Watkins also joins the Club as Pathways Head of High Performance.
Former Rabbitohs Head of Football, Mark Ellison, will shift into the Head of Recruitment and Retention role at the Club, focussing on the recruitment and retention of full-time players to the South Sydney Club.
Former NRL Assistant Coach David Furner has moved into the Head of Pathways position, taking control of the Club’s playing, coaching and staffing talent outside of the full-time playing and football staff, from open age down to under 17s, development squads and working with Souths Juniors on Junior Bunnies squads. Tyrone McCarthy will work closely with Furner as the Club’s Pathways Skill Acquisition Coach.
Former Rabbitohs premiership-winning player and former Pathways Wellbeing Manager Jason Clark has been promoted into the Football Manager role, and will work closely with Football Logistics and Facilities Manager Kyle Furner on managing the day-to-day requirements of the full-time playing, coaching and football staff. Rob Capizzi returns to the Rabbitohs as Pathways Teams, Women’s and Wellbeing Manager, with a particular focus on preparing the Club for an NRLW team in future years.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Andrew McDonald, Strength and Conditioning Coach Jack Milligan, Head of Wellbeing Ian Reeves, Head Physiotherapist Crawford Quinn, Rehabilitation Physiotherapist Vicki Locke, Elite Athlete Rehabilitation Program Physiotherapist Cuen Neyland, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Athlete Rehabilitation Sam Pervan, Sports Science Advisor Brendan Fahrner, Football and Recruitment Analyst Leigh Richardson, Pathways Head of Medical Bernie Chau, NRL Career Coach Ryan Gonsalves and Recruitment Manager Brent Hill will all continue in their roles for the new season.
Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly
“We have great faith that the decisions we have made around our football department will bear fruit for us in season 2025, Wayne is the game’s greatest coach and he will lead a team of talented and dedicated coaches and staff who will get the best out of our playing group, whether they be NRL players or amongst the up-and-coming talent in our pathways.”
“We thank those coaches and staff who departed at the end of, or during, the 2024 season for their commitment and dedication to our Club, particularly Jason Demetriou, Brock Schaefer, Joe O’Callaghan, Andrew Croll, Alice Sharples, Ross Tesoriero, Liam Gough and Donna Smith who made enormous contributions to our full-time football program.
“Members of the playing group start to return for pre-season in November. We know that the pre-season under Wayne’s guidance will be crucial to returning the Rabbitohs to the right end of the competition table. 2025 will be an exciting season and everyone at the Club cannot wait for it to start.”
