Player Peter Mamouzelos

Simple question - if we can't blood new first graders via the reserve competition, what are we doing?

It can't be that we've got no good juniors because that should be sorted out by Flegg. If it's not Flegg, then it's Ball or Matts. If it's not Matts it's 15s and 14s etc.

These are "pathways" for a reason. We've got plenty of "good" players there but why not blokes that are NRL ready? Salary cap shows we can't just buy a team of superstars, Penrith shows it's possibly to build your own Premiership side.

Who was the last great Souths blooded player from youth to an NRL star?
Cameron Murray

I’m very happy to say that he’s proving me wrong so far.

He seems calm, picks the right option more often than not, and his service is solid (more work to do there).

I was worried about Pete and he’s demonstrated that he’s got the goods.

Finally, finally, finally....

A proper hooker in the 9 not a headless chook!!!!

A hooker that throws crisp passes, runs with direction, reads numbers and tackles to boot.

Lets hope he keeps developing.

Another solid performance vs the scum!!!!!
Some of the long passes he threw the other night were gold.

I wish Pete had been blooded earlier and given time at 14 while Cookie was still with us.

Cook was a great player for us and a great ambassador, however, it was clear to all those who were looking that Cook would falter in some of the bigger matches.

I'm hoping Pete continues to improve his game.

Some of our supporters probably still won't admit that they were wrong that Cook wasn't what needed and that Mamo could do the job.

What I was calling for, Cook was setting Mamo's development in first grade back.

Only getting limited minutes when given a crack in first grade.

He just needs to speed up his passes a bit, especially on the last but other than that he's been playing good and we don't miss Cook at all

Well done Southy looks like I’ll have to eat my words it’s looking like you were right on Pete.

He has really stepped up so far and been good exceeded my expectations.

I am happy to be wrong.
Yeah but I wasn't really "right" I just wanted to see if he would step up to the job in the top grade and fortunately he seems to be doing just that.

Mamo still has a long way to go before we say we don't miss aspects of Cook's game, his running game needs to improve, as does his defence.

Robson destroyed us with his running game, he ran for over 130 metres and Mamo ran just over 40 metres.

If Cook was there with his usual 45 to 50 tackles Robson would not have been allowed as much control as he had on the weekend.

Against the Titans Cook ran for around 90 metres and made 40 tackles. Cook had a great ability to get on top of his opposite, all things Mamo has yet to learn.

The good thing is he is young, seems to have a great attitude and has without doubt had some fine games this year and is improving all the time.

But for anyone to even suggest he is better than Cook at this stage is just silly.

I sincerely hope Mamo becomes one of the best hookers in the comp, if his improvement continues then by the end of this season he will be a very different player. In a good way.
