Player Peter Mamouzelos

Everyone needs to chill about everything to do with 2024. It has been a write off since like round 3. Stop thinking a few wins against the shittiest teams means we’re a chance and our players are actually world beaters and a loss against Canberra in Canberra when it’s -890 degrees and we have 245 players out injured means we’re doomed and every player is gutter trash.

Get a grip.

I'm worried about Mamo because it has everything to do with 2025.

You know, where he is projected to be our number 1 hooker. Where we will promptly lose a key spine player and replace him with a guy not up to it, or a guy with 1 NRL game.

It's important. People talk about Mitch Kenny and the like, the fact that 9s aren't a glamour role anymore, doesn't matter. This competition exists relative to every other team's squad. If everyone had far worse players at 9, Pete could win the Dally M Hooker of the Year.

But instead he is quite literally the 17th best hooker in the comp. And that's a problem for 2025. Where I'd like to actually win football matches consistently.

what’s your point? He will have better players around him to hide his inadequacies until it’s time for him to step up? Story line sounds familiar 🤔
It is pretty simple to see my point. But not surprised that you fail to see my point.

I guess played don’t improve as they get older? I also guess we don’t see improvements in players under different coaches?

Script sounds familiar. Can’t put my finger on it 🤔

Thank god Wayne will be in charge so we don’t have to sit through another 3 seasons of “give him time” “he’s just a rookie”. It’s already started with the “but there was other players that played bad too”

Yes thank god Wayne will be in charge. Funny how he wasn’t looking to get rid of Pete. Maybe just maybe he sees something in him that he can work on.

Wanting to see how he goes with a full strength side and after an offseason of Wayne and a new head of performance isn’t exactly have us wanting to push this for 3 seasons.

You don’t have to look too far in the NRL to see how many hookers of late have started to hit their straps when they hit their mid 20’s.

We don’t know who will be our number 1 hooker yet could be Humphreys.

But yes Pete has lots to work on I’m starting to have doubts last two weeks not too good but haven’t fully given up yet on him. Let’s see what Wayne can do with him.

I've no idea if Mamouzelos will make it or not. Just wanted to point out that a few years ago our must keep up and coming players were Ilias, Taaffe, and Mamouzelos.

I see young players talked up all the time on here and so few of them really make it.

Shades of Troy Boston and Beau Champion....fantastic junior prospects....Beau even was going to be retained because we didn't want to recruit GI.... we just don't know what the future holds. How many junior prospects remain just that and never get to grade (not just our juniors...it's a hard gig).

the kid shows nothing not a spark of anything

Well while many were melting down and wanting cook gone we were told he had a superior passing game…Apparently his great skill was “bring his forwards into the ball”.Hasnt been on display but the venom directed at Cook made it a fact, apparently 😆😆

Now we see the truth since he’s been getting more game time

I think the inclusion of Humphreys in our squad will push PM in the offseason to be better. That and WB should bring out the best in him. My opinion is that Humphreys will start at 9 in round 1 2025 but I could be wrong.
Also number 1 is Fullback, Hooker is 9. 😂

Pete’s problem is the same as Taaffe’s.

Genetics.

He’s physically not up to NRL standard and never will be. You won’t get a consistent 20-25 games out of him a year.

We got rid of goof 1 in Cook now it’s time to move on goof 2 in Pete.

Just find a nine who can provide good service, knows which way to send the ball, doesn’t get confused consistently and can hold the middle together defensively

Willy Peters, the next Clive Churchill?

Simple question - if we can't blood new first graders via the reserve competition, what are we doing?

It can't be that we've got no good juniors because that should be sorted out by Flegg. If it's not Flegg, then it's Ball or Matts. If it's not Matts it's 15s and 14s etc.

These are "pathways" for a reason. We've got plenty of "good" players there but why not blokes that are NRL ready? Salary cap shows we can't just buy a team of superstars, Penrith shows it's possibly to build your own Premiership side.

Who was the last great Souths blooded player from youth to an NRL star?
