Over 60s, Loneliness and Depression

I went to Regents Park Public school during the 80’s. So much has changed at the shops on Amy St. Not long ago Dave and Pam packed up the Newsagency. Only a couple of long term shops remain.
You blokes would know the Green Mango restaurant in Amy street then. Our absolute favourite Vietnamese restaurant with the very best host Vienetta. Shame that she now only does off site functions. Did you know that Api Koroisau worked there before his football career took off ?.

Yeah I know Green Mango. Just around the corner from Liza Pizza. I know Api lived on Nottinghill Road across from the golf course. Didn’t know he worked there.

I think my wife has decided on a number of hobbies she wants me to get into lol :D . Seriously though reading thru this thread and seeing how different we are but how much the same we are makes me feel not alone. I know I'm going thru the same thoughts as many regarding retirement and what to do in retirement... Probably the main reason I'm still working.
And what do you do for a crust young MiniCooper?
BTW. One of my favourite cars I have ever owned, alongside the Studebaker and BMW.

Braneganski we’re Nw NSW, 30 k’s west of Gunnedah, only 100k’s to Tamworth.
Lots of things to do up here, but doctors etc are near impossible. Hubby has bipolar so it adds another level to any decisions we make.
I’m really interested in hearing how you guys are all coping. I guess there are a lot of us out there in this age bracket having to make the ‘big decisions’.
I’m fine as I’m heavily involved in community work, plus all our kids/grandkids are within a 100k radius. ( and I have the Rabbitohs!)
Stay well everyone and don’t be afraid to talk to people if you think you need help.
Macca - I have sent you a contact number in "Conversations". Please give me a call.
The more I look at a map, the more I realise how much I wandered around your area when I was much younger.

It's depressing to think what some of my old bombs would be worth now.
1968 HK wagon with a LSD, bought registered for $275.
1968 VW Beetle I sold for $100.
HQ sedan, what a beast!

we had an Austin Standard when I was very young - so that was the first family car ! Mine was a Renault 10 - on sale around the corner from our house for 400.00

haha my sister and husband are both on SSS pensions are former teachers and happily ensconced on the shores of Boat Harbour - Gerringong - I forsook mine to cash it in to buy a house sadly

I’m in the IT industry and have been working from home since covid started which I’m enjoying. Yes my 69 Mini Cooper is a toy I’ve had for many years. Keeps me out of trouble, that snd our bunnies 😁

63 going on 64 moved to the US in 2001. Been working out most of my life and fortunately still am, that's a hobby in itself. Took up golf a year ago, still bog average but enjoy it just the same. Often go out and play a round with whoever's there, could be a 20 yr old or an 80 yr old. Keeps it interesting and social. Aside from that my wife keep me young with both vertical and horizontal dancing. First car was an Escort TC. Second car was an Escort TC. Miss going to games more than anything. Refusing to consider yourself old is the best way to keep age at bay.
