Only Burgess, Arrow, Murray, Koloamatangi is should be clearly ahead of him.
Highly arguable.

I don’t mind wasting a bench forward spot. You can’t interchange 4 middles effectively without short changing someone good. There just aren’t enough interchanges.
Look at the weekend games. Plenty of teams doing well have a guy on the bench with less than 10 minutes played. They’re there in case of emergency and coaches don’t let their presence impact getting their best players the minutes they deserve.
Most teams also have a 2 hooker rotation. So we aren’t breaking from the norm there.
Start Duncan on an edge and play Host off the bench as your limited minutes guy. Prop rotation takes 4 changes (start with the 2 you want to play the most minutes), hooker rotation takes 2. That leaves 2 up your sleeve to manage the flow of the game. Use HIA’s and sin bin replacements well.
Burgess, Koloamatangi, Murray, Duncan, Arrow and Moale (wishful thinking) are the guys that IMO should be getting as many minutes as they can handle. The rest of the guys are just there to spell those guys.
Mamouzelos and Cook should be based on strategy, not when it’s interchange convenient. Cook comes on after 25 or 30 minutes. And either goes off when Mamouzelos returns for the final 20, or if you have momentum, play them in tandem for a bit.
I wonder if what mansour says is true.
I know Moele said JD spoke to him a out his dropping. I wonder if others get that treatment or the mansour treatment. If chee is dropped it will be interesting cause I though he had one of his better games. There does nkt seem to be much reward for the fringe players. They are just rotated.
I fear it could launch a thousand memes on FridayAll I can think of when I see the jumpers is the Morecambe and Wise sketch where they parody "There is Nothing Like A Dame" from South Pacific. I hope the musical theatre buffs appreciate it.
I don’t mean on current output (as we probably shouldn’t be putting too much long term decision making on current output given the internal factors).Highly arguable.
I agree. Young Pete missed a few tackles and looked gassed at times in the game against the Sharks.I don’t mind wasting a bench forward spot. You can’t interchange 4 middles effectively without short changing someone good. There just aren’t enough interchanges.

IMO, the forwards aren’t necessarily under conditioned, they’re playing out of position. They are fitter than us. We are the most unfit team in the comp.
Because something works at one team, doesn't mean it will work at another.
Only if their hooker can't play 80 mins
our props and second rowers both get gassed.
Even Murray himself, you see him on his haunches sucking in the big ones and he's meant to be one of our fittest and best trainers.
For some reason, JD just won't play Host at prop or Duncan at second row.
He has Host locked in as a second rower only and Duncan locked in as a lock only.
JD is probs the worst coach when it comes to bench rotation and I still think it's a waste of bench spot and you want to use two bench rotations on a hooker position when our back rowers and props are off their feet slipping off tackles and not marking up properly no more just to put an out of form player back in the side?
Makes no sense. Unless you think all of a sudden cook starts playing like he did 6 years ago.
No doubt he’s done a poor job there. And continues too.Coach needs to know his players capabilities and when to sub them off but he doesn't, instead he just keeps switching combinations
Havili and Host aren’t key players in the next Souths premiership. Some of the guys like Moale and Duncan need a stint in reserves because JD only gives them limited time on the field. Duncan only got twenty minutes in his last first grade game. They will not develop into first grade players without playing football.
They need to get some game time under their belt. I would prefer this game time in firsts.

For me it’s not even an individual player discussion at this point. It’s the actual strategy behind JD’s bench rotation, it seems clueless at this point and I am definitely not saying JD is clueless. But one week it’s a 4 prop bench, which admittedly I don’t think works in today’s game so glad that has been scrapped. Then against the dogs it’s 3 middles with an edge who can also cover the backline which worked well. So that works and then he changes it again with the 2 hooker rotation while dropping Moale who was playing well. Then he changes it again and drops the 2 hooker thing to bring Havili back up. And now it’s back to 2 hookers and removing the edge/utility on the bench. I’m confused, imagine the players.Correct, only playing Duncan for 20 minutes was criminal.
