If this is a fine for first time thing, are they saying that the injuries it caused both physically and mentally are deemed just collateral damage? It’s not a victimless crime. It doesn’t make sense to me it could just be a fine or probation etc.

I heard that his legal team is claiming that it was caused by racist slur that caused mental health issue???

To me it is nearly as serious as what Payne Haas' mum did and she got time. However, she did have quite a record of antisocial and violent behaviours.

Reality check here...
When my family moved from Ireland to England, we all copped it ...
- we are stealing their jobs they said
- some of us were called dirty irish pigs
- i copped it in school many times

Then we came to oz and copped the slurs against poms ... but much more benign I must say!

- we just got on with things and made friends and lived our lives

We NEVER held grudges or blamed any of our circumstances on racism
Too many people I feel try to divide us, generally we all get on pretty well together in the end
