Reece Walsh out and Josiah Karapani to debut at left centre. Should be an interesting watch… if he kills it it’ll create more noise for Souths I guess! (Not that they were in the wrong).
Josiah Karapani has good stats in Cup, 6 tries in his first 8 games whilst having 200+ run metres in 3 of his last 4 games

Happy to say before the game we should have kept him.
Yeah agree, but it's one of those ones that management just gotta act in certain situations hey.
Like James Roberts, Talakai etc. Wanted to keep, but couldn't

NRL360 was genuinely impressive.

When Fifita commited: ‘Politis gets his man, massive signing for the Roosters, sorry Titans, but he wants to win a premiership’.

When Fifita flips: ‘He’s disrespected the vererable Nick Politis, it’s underhanded, the Roosters have dodged a bullet - did they even need him, entirely unprofessional from the player.’

Yep, that’s Souths…where talented young players get cut loose for off field issues, to kick on elsewhere, but senior players aren’t held to account for on field issues!

Especially when Cameron Munster's manager is on the show.... the same Munster who basically told Bennett he was coming to the Dolphins for 2024 only to change his mind and re-sign with Melbourne, without informing Wayne (who had a go at Munster in the media).

Yeah. Morons.

We need to drive better standards in our team…..we get rid of a guy for not meeting the standards ……he plays well……. we should have kept him ……😂🤣
Exactly what I was thinking.

Of course not, it's far better Brisbane benefit from him, obviously.

How low must his standards and attitude have been to eject him from the happy and you know it club?

Damn.

The level of hypocrisy is high on here.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of posts complaining ad nauseam about the “lack of standards” and “lack of accountability” at the club.

And then, when we release a player because of poor standards - who’s never played 1st grade btw - who goes on to play 1st grade with another club, it’s “why did we let him go…”.

I echo @Shauno’s point…****ing ridiculous.

Comprehension please.

"How low must his standards have been to be released from the happy and you know it, sinking standards environment under JD? Damn. Must have been real low eh?"

Goof brain: WHYYY WOULD YOU SAY SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS!!!!!

Re: all the JMK stuff, it would be a lot better for our cap if we found the next JMK or Cook, I.e a mid 20’s diamond the rough that’s under-appreciated.

The sort of signing everyone scoffs at in real time, and 3 years later are trying to pinch.

That’s the main problem with panel show prognostication (and on conversation on here).

Every player that is hot right now, will never be anything else. Any player that is struggling is a bum.

No player has ever improved, been under appreciated, flourished in a different environment, or proven anyone wrong in the history of the game according to these pundits.

Latrell Mitchell confronts NRL 360 host Braith Anasta over personal attack

South Sydney Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell has reportedly been involved in a heated confrontation with Braith Anasta at a Sydney restaurant.

Latrell Mitchell has confronted NRL 360 host Braith Anasta in Sydney over perceived personal attacks.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback took issue with the 42-year-old former NRL player over comments he has made regarding him and his teammates this season.

The confrontation unfolded in Surry Hills while both parties were separately out for dinner at restaurant Chin Chin on Wednesday night, according to the SMH.

The two were seen engaging in conversation before Mitchell reportedly asked the TV host to step outside where he is said to have questioned him on why he was making matters personal with his views.

The report stated the exchange between the pair was animated but never turned physical.

At the time Anasta and fellow NRL 360 panel members raised questions about Mitchell’s place in the team and whether the club should shift him away from the fullback position.

“There’s talk that Latrell should be a centre. There’s got to be someone in the system, that’s the role of the recruitment to have a backup in case he goes down,” NRL legend Gordon Tallis said on NRL 360.

“You just have to look at all of his old footage from the Roosters and when he was at his best there and its in the centres.

“When he’s dominated State of Origin its in the centres. When he gets quality ball he makes his opposition look like kids.”

The criticism of the Rabbitohs has come in thick and fast throughout the 2024 NRL season with the club languishing in last place on the ladder.

Through the opening nine rounds their only win came in round four when they defeated the Canterbury Bulldogs 20-16.

They’ve currently lost 15 out of their previous 20 matches and became the first club to concede at least 28 points eight times through nine matches of an NRL season.

Mitchell has been at the centre of harsh criticism which magnified after he was handed a three-week suspension following the club’s round five encounter against the Warriors in early April.

The poweful fullback has been repeatedly criticised for a perceived lack of effort and conditioning throughout the season, with many calling for him to be moved back to the centres.

In early May, coach Jason Demetriou was sacked after a club board meeting was called to decide his fate.

Both the Rabbitohs and Anasta’s employer Fox Sports had no comment in relation to the matter when contacted by news.com.au.

Anasta pointed out that Mitchell struggles with defensive positioning as a fullback.

“You look at the great fullbacks in our game and their there before the play is there. They pre-empt it, they are moving before the ball goes, they are on the bike,” Anasta said.

“He gets caught out a lot in defence, he’s very rarely in the frame at the last second when there’s a try or when he’s got an opportunity to save a try.

“That’s where he needs to improve on. That comes down to fitness too Gordie, and comes down to being one of those high energy fullbacks. He plays differently.”

Tallis replied: “They run more than any other player in the game the fullbacks. Do we want him doing that or do we want him to be a strike player?”

While the criticism for the club shows no signs of slowing down, the positive for Souths is they play the Cowboys, Parramatta and the Titans in the next month which are all winnable games.
