It goes both ways.
Good clubs have player blocks for up and coming talent who get pilfered by struggling clubs.
They have rosters who’s value get too great that players are forced out of.
Both those situations benefit bottom feeders.
Occasionally when a top club finds themselves with 800k, of course that’s a desirable proposition for a player in their mid 20’s who’s ready to win footy games and take the next step.
The problem Gordie should call out is the ridiculous over market prices bottom clubs pay to attract talent, instead of rolling their sleeves up and building a club organically in a measured and competent way.
The Warriors didn’t lash out and pay massive overs for their resurgence. Testament to that is the fact JFH has just went there on market value. Ditto the Sharks. They paid a fair price and bought quality adds.
Run your club better.
Everybody is playing under the same system. Whether you need to improve your ownership structure, executive, football dept, pathways, or marketing. Saying ‘it’s not fair’ doesn’t cut it.
