. I have mentioned it a few times, but he and Rusty still do talk a lot, and I do think he really enjoyed his time here. If all signs point to him coming back here, hopefully we have a better transition plan this time around. Or we just let him coach to he physically can’t anymore

Permission to negotiate leaves it to the market to decide his value. Souths have played the ball back to Anasta to decide whether to go to market. A release is the next step should he want to take up an offer.
This time next week it will have been done, pencil in next Monday as D day.
If Wayne does decide to return you’d have to believe it would be his last move…..that being the case I think that neither the club nor Wayne would engage in discussions around a succession plan. Just agree to re-sign on a season by season basis. If either party wants to call it a day then it’ll be agreed at that time. It makes more sense if both parties are happy to go down that sort of open ended path.
