Sooooo no Caleb Clarke for 2025. Now that I have finished breathing into a paper bag I see that our wing stocks are still in good shape. Munroe, Mellars, Gagai and AJ when he recovers.

Shit was never happening

He could have generated interest from some Sydney clubs unless Storm released him under conditions.

1 million for a winger. That's Payne Huss money. Who would you rather have. Just presenting the other side of this equation we have seen how To'o goes playing in a side like Penrith or NSW. Would he look as good in some of the lesser teams right now. 750k would be a good buy for him. It's all just talk because Penrith won't release him from his contract anyway.
I’d rather have To’oo than Hass , To’oo is the best winger and metre water in the game by a mile, rarely misses a game, rarely has an ordinary game . He should be the first Million dollar winger to play the game

Bummer. I wonder whether we had an offer on the table.
Anyway, that’s killed that possibility.
Yeah, those pre season sessions got me interested too I must admit.
Maybe one of our younguns comes through...I would love to see that ... whoever it may be!

Agree and I am sure every expensive contract lawyer would agree with you too.
Can I say that young people in general now are just too privileged...I see it every day in their manners and attitudes. A man's word used to really mean something.
Now, so many players have their CECs ready.
Yes, I have just coined a new phrase ...
CEC - Contract Escape Clause... e.g.
- my family doesn't like it here
- They sacked the coach...I signed because of him
- I dont like Sydney
- I want to go back to NZ
- I want to come back to oz
- its too cold in England and I miss my family
- hey my manager said I can earn much more with another club and for another 3 years
- WOOPS, I dont hear too many players admitting to that one!!
The comp is now so topsy turvy... we like it when we are the beneficiaries but hate it when another club is the winner.
Well, I am pushing my personal opinions out there and I apologise for any offence caused ... but I think other fans agree too ... maybe it was Callmack?
U sign a contract then you honour it. Case Closed.

Oops ... think it was Prowsey expressing misgivings on contracts....Not Callmack...my mistake.

Ok, I’ll play.

I assume you have the same level of opprobrium towards companies / NRL clubs who sign a contract, and then when they aren’t happy they force the person/player out, right?

Spare me the “in my day” sentimentality / pining for the “good old days” and whingeing about the “privilege of young people”.

Contracts are worth exactly what they were worth in the “good old days”. No more, no less.

Oh and verbal contracts (my word is my bond) are worth exactly the same too.

Tyrone Munro and Haizen Mellars will be 20 come round 1 2025. Both injured right now so we haven't seen much of them this year. Munroe was very impressive in the rain against Warriors last year in one of his few appearances. Thats good for 2025 if they can stay injury free.

And in my opinion we shouldn't be.
I don't think any well run footy club shouldn't be.
If we make an offer for To'o, much as I think he's a good player (which confounds me, but that's for another day) then everyone involved in pathways, recruitment, etc should resign. In protest or shame, not sure.
There won't be any need to make an offer for To'o as I don't believe he will be agitating for a release. Possibly his manager will approach Penrith for a contract upgrade which I am sure they will accommodate. Penrith are losing a couple of players so there is no cap pressure for them.
It is good to imagine To'o in our backline but Penrith will keep him.

Well, I will play this one with a straight bat.
I dont believe I ever used the phrase 'in my day'. I may be getting on a bit but I still think I am living in my day.
It is a fairly recent trend in my opinion for contracts to not be honoured at the rate they are now.
It can also greatly affect the club's planning....yes, player can be affected too.
Sometimes a club will agree to termination for genuine compassionate grounds or if the player is involved in off field misdemeanours.
I may be wrong, but if a club does start shopping a player around or feel that a player is no longer providing value, then if the player wishes to stay, they generally do. Look at Cowboys for example.
Furthermore, I believe that if either party ends a contract then the same rule should apply.
If the club is at fault, same should apply to them ... namely honour the contract. At least I can agree with you on that point!

I wonder how much of all this stuff used to go on in the past but it wasn't reported the way it is now. So much attention on all sports and so many people reporting on it. In the past all this may have happened but the journalists reporting on the footy had enough on their plate to worry about, for want of a better phrase, the "gossip"
