Captain/Deputy Captain

Interesting article linked in the Pre Season thread about whether Latrell Mitchell would make a good captain should Cam Murray miss an extended amount of time to start the season.

I’ll preface this by saying, I don’t really understand the hysteria about Murray missing a bunch of footy. 5 months would take us to March, and that was the high side of recovery time.

Regardless, in the event we do need an interim captain (or if Wayne wants to go another way / wants someone to wear a C through the preseason), who do you like?

Tevita posted last week he was 'learning to walk again' and it looked like it. He might be long odds to be ready.

I voted Graham, certainly can't doubt the commitment / toughness and he will always be on the pitch.

I have been an advocate for LM to be captain for ages. He is at his best when he is heavily involved. There is no higher involvement that captain.

For mine, a captain is someone that needs to be able to talk to referee's calmly, get a point across and not piss them off. We all know how they feel about Trell (the only penalty all year for running in) and how they feel about Cody and his aggression. So neither of them. Pretty much leaves Wighton

I think if Wighton is in a role of leadership we’d get more value out of him.

Although totally different players he could have a Michael Crocker type influence when there’s a general need to lift - like there sure as hell is at the moment - and Jack seems to have that respect by his peers.

Jack Wighton would make an excellent skipper.

Cody needs to keep his life and game simple to be at his best and adding the responsibilities of Capt, won’t achieve that goal.

Club Captain is much more than deciding to take a kick at goal, or deciding on a Capt’s challenge.

I think Latrell would be a really good captain, but he needs 12 months out of the spotlight (as much as possible), for mine.

Like @Shauno mentioned in terms of media or Cody aggression. I just went with arrow as he's been in the club for longer. Just depends if he's playing 80
