Latest Rumours

Mate if your happy finishing 4th every year good for you

But it was only 4 weeks ago when I applauded the talent the club brought into the Ball side.

Unlike you though I don’t know think the club is infallible and will vent when I believe so. The only way to improve is to stop looking over the fence and complaining about the Roosters and look at ourselves and be better

The Roosters didn’t steal Sualli, we pushed him out. And the media’s love affair started when Richo kept spruiking we have the best junior in the country in the media and GIs replacement before he was signed

I have always stated JS is a rare athlete and a winger nothing more. But do your best to misconstrue my words

GI was the rarest of athletes, as not only was he an athlete but a footballer as well
I’m more of a realist. You make out as though I’m happy with finishing 4th every year yet have never suggested that. I do know my expectations last year wasn’t a premiership.
What I do like is that we are up there in the fight every year. I also know that the club are doing what they can to get us over the line. We should have won in 2021.

Very rare that I’ll ever see you praise the club. Whether it will be questioning the coach or the recruitment.

No club get it right all the time.

You continue to praise the Roosters who over the last few years have finished below us. Their signings are questionable.

You say we pushed Suaalii out the door. I’m sure that we offered him one of the biggest contracts for a 17 year old. It wasn’t until he was putting demands that were ridiculous out there that we didn’t want to deal with him any more.

It was actually Wayne Bennett that was the first one to say no to his demands.

Sua’ali’i is so over rated it’s not funny and I have been saying this for 3 years. Slowly peple are starting to see this and agree, even on the Chookpen they are starting to see the truth.

He’s not a back as he’s too slow

He leaps high, but drops 40% of the balls he leaps for. Makes awful decisions in defence, not particularly fast, has no footwork, failed at fullback in the World Cup where L Mitchell and D Young turned him inside out when scoring tries. This year he looks almost lost at centre. The media have been blowing smoke up his arse because Nick told them to.

If he has a career in the NRL it might be as a second rower, but he would need to address his skinny build and put on some muscle.

I hope he stays at the Roosters, I'd enjoy them having that much money tied up in an average player.

Whoever at Souths told him to shove his egotistical demands shouldn’t get the blame, they should get the credit.

Would be good, if once, just once mind - you came on here after a win and provided some balance to your constant carping - after a loss - about:

Alex
Our recruitment.
Latrell
Lachlan
Cook
Our recruitment

The list goes on.

And before you respond with the smart arse “finish 4th” bullshit…no one wants to finish runners up.

But I’ll take losing in prelims / GF’s, over coming stone motherless last…like we were for a number of years, not that long ago.

See here’s the thing, I constantly praise the coach and club when they do things right

It’s just yourself and Kempy only take notice and exception when I make critics

I backed the club constantly over moving Adam on, applauded JD and the coaching staff for their excellent game plan against the Sharks (both in last years semi and round 1). The list goes on but there is an element on here which your part of, that won’t except any criticism of the club.

If you want to make it a fan appreciation site, go ahead I will take my indulgent opinions elsewhere, but until then I will get off my chest points of which I believe where the club is making errors

The sad thing is I seem to get it right more often than not and it’s disappointing when I’m just a mug punter, not a highly paid sport’s administrator or coach

I’ve made this point a number of times and I will make it again. While we have Trell, Cody, Cook, Murray and CG we are in a premiership window, and they can shut pretty quickly. But you won’t go from 4th to 1st unless you either rectify small issues with your style or import more talent. And seeing there isn’t a lot that’s first grade ready now it’s an error that we recruited no one

He’s not a back as he’s too slow
He’d be the fastest in our backline
He leaps high, but drops 40% of the balls he leaps for.
Is that a factual stat or did you pull it from your arse? No one on here likes an exaggerator 😉

That’s just blind hatred. The kids an exceptional winger and always will be, if he’s played in his rightful position
Whoever at Souths told him to shove his egotistical demands shouldn’t get the blame, they should get the credit.
Never had an issue with moving him on, but who did we replace him with? Our right wing has been an issue since 2015. He freed up $700k and we signed nothing. It was evident early we were sold a lemon in Mansour, Paulo was rocks and diamonds and again we sign no real replacement

Even with half that money, we could have signed the next best kid out there. Cobbo was running around in QLD, instead we signed Kennar.

I respect your right to be wrong.

The Roosters didn’t steal Sualli, we pushed him out.

Refresh my memory. How did we do that.
I seem to recall he had a massive offer from us for a kid his age and the NRL wouldnt register it. Nearly 2 million bucks?

Then after he was eligible we offered a four-year contract worth $2.55 million to begin in 2021.

No pushing out there 🥴

On Sualli forget about talent for a moment and think about team culture in my view it doesn’t matter how good someone is if their mentality is “me first and team second” then you have let them walk. I don’t care if they are difference between winning a premiership and coming 4th . It’s pretty clear the culture that the club is trying to instil - develop from the inside and with guys who want to be at the club. Our long term future depends on a strong fan base and junior nursery with a strong connection to the local area - guys like Cam, Campbell, AJ.

Agree with you ,but that culture is enhanced and more talent is attracted when you're club is winning premierships.

AJ is faster than him

That is an awful lot of money to pay a winger.
We rightfully spent that money keeping and upgrading guys like Murray, Koala, Latrell etc

Its all good and well to say go sign Cobbo but at no point has Cobbo said he wanted to come to Sydney.

We had a crack at Dom Young but werent prepared to offer stupid money like the Scum do.

Sometimes you have to take a chance on a player and hope they come good at that price. We did it in 2014 and Lote worked out brilliantly.
Other times like Mansour it hasnt worked.

Is it?

I’ll take our culture every day of the week over that soulless vampire to our east, or just about any other club.

Our club is running a profitable business model, with a clear medium to long term strategy.

We have a good crop of youngsters balanced by some wise heads.

We don’t need to go after every washed up super star, or self important youngster - who puts his own needs in front of the team.

We dodged a bullet with Suallii and I couldn’t be happier that the developer of men is having to deal with this jumped up Prima Donna.

Yes culture's great ,but premierships surely are what the club should be aiming for. Much happier place to be around then you'd assume. I'm also glad we dodged the bullet with Ra Ra boy.

Sure but premierships should not come at the expense of culture and long term sustainability of the club.
The numbers don’t lie, last year we were the second most watched team and third by membership numbers, by comparison the Roosters are not in the top 5. The media can bang on about the Roosters culture etc but their survival relies on a benevolent chairman and a leagues club , which is a pretty risky way to survive irrespective of how many premierships they win.
