Match Discussion Round 16: Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles

Yes that's right. Forgot. Not accustomed to Cam starting off the bench. But still, when you look at Manlys outs then we do look pretty good.

Partly why we’re firm favourites I’d imagine.

Have manly got injuries and suspensions on top of their origin contingent?

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Manly Sea Eagles 7:35pm @ Accor Stadium

Last week’s Rabbitohs team: 1. Latrell Mitchell 2. Alex Johnston 3. Taane Milne 4. Richard Kennar 5. Jacob Gagai 6. Jack Wighton 7. Cody Walker 8. Davvy Moale 9. Damien Cook 10. Sean Keppie 11. Michael Chee Kam 12. Jai Arrow 13. Keaon Koloamatangi 14. Peter Mamouzelos 15. Tallis Duncan 16. Cameron Murray 17. Thomas Burgess

Team Tips: Jai Arrow suffered a rib injury in Round 15 late in his side’s contest with the Broncos, meaning he’s in doubt to take the field. In a timely boost, Jye Gray could return to the side and offset Latrell Mitchell’s selection for the Blues.

Last week’s Sea Eagles team: 1. Lehi Hopoate 2. Jason Saab 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Tommy Talau 6. Luke Brooks 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Taniela Paseka 20. Jake Simpkin 17. Toafofoa Sipley 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jake Trbojevic 9. Karl Lawton 10. Nathan Brown 15. Corey Waddell 16. Ethan Bullemor 22. Aaron Schoupp

Team Tips: Reuben Garrick suffered a head knock in Round 15 and will now sit out due to the 11-day concussion stand down. Tommy Talau will likely shift to the centres, with either Jaxson Paulo or Ray Vaega joining the side on the wing. Replacement halfback Jake Arthur is also nursing a foot injury, and if he’s not fit Jamie Humphreys is a chance of playing in the halves with Daly Cherry-Evans playing Origin. Meanwhile, Corey Waddell will likely slot into Haumole Olakau’atu’s bench spot despite leaving the field injured against the Dragons. Elsewhere, both Tof Sipley (knee) and Taniela Paseka (finger) are in doubt, meaning Manly will have to look deep into their middle forward stocks with Josh Aloiai, Dean Matterson, Aaron Woods and Matt Lodge also sidelined alongside Lachlan Croker who has been battling a neck injury.

--------------------------------------------------------------
So from last week's teams Souths will be missing 2, or possibly 3 players (depending on if Arrow plays) and Manly will be missing up to 6.

Manly could be forced to hand out up to four debuts against South Sydney, with their forward pack decimated and a total of 14 players unavailable.

The Sea Eagles will name one of the most injury-ravaged squads of the season on Tuesday, with only two of their first-choice forwards available.

As things stand, none of Manly’s injured brigade from Sunday’s gutsy win over St George Illawarra are expected to be able to face the Rabbitohs on Saturday night.

Reuben Garrick is a confirmed out with a concussion, while Taniela Paseka (thumb), Tof Sipley (knee) and Corey Waddell (ankle) remain injured.

It comes with hooker Lachlan Croker still returning to training after the lingering effects of a concussion, and journeyman prop Matt Lodge sidelined with a bicep rupture.

Jake Trbojevic, Daly Cherry-Evans and Haumole Olakau’atu are in State of Origin camp, while Josh Aloiai remains sidelined for one more week for a needless trip.

Making matters worse for Manly, back-up forward Aaron Woods and Dean Matterson are unavailable through injury.

-----------------------------------------------------------
No mention that Souths have something like 13 players unavailable too.

Team list Tuesday! Interesting one.

Keen to see if Arrow has pulled up ok and named to play.

Keen to see if Jye Gray is back in and selected at fullback.

Keen to see who replaces Murray.

Well this is a double points game vs Manly with a 4 points swing in the relative ladder positions at stake. We just have to bank the 2 points and for once the bad luck in the injury stakes starts to hit our opposition.
We should win this one but Manly have shown a fair bit of grit under adversity of late so I do expect them to put up a decent fight. The aces for us being Cody, Jack and Cook and I also look forward to the continued good form of Koala.

Another week where every player available gets a jersey.

Hornby’s team selections to date have just been the non injured list.

If he was an independent contractor I don’t reckon he we would be able to invoice the club for that line item. :)
