Righteo guys and girls, it's time to regroup, lick our wounds and get ready to go again as we head into another week. This time, we're taking on the Cowboys in Magic Round up in Brisbane. This is always one of my favourite Rounds of the year, it's a pretty cool vibe. We're currently the only team to have never lost a Magic Round game. Sadly though, I can't see that continuing this weekend. We won't be producing much magic.

It's hard to get a read on the Cowboys. They started the year on fire but have been really struggling lately. However, we're now at the level where every game is tough, so this will be no different. Some troops back will help.

God I'd love a win.

Cowboys $1.34
Souths $3.30

What’s that saying again go in hoping for the best but expecting the worst!

I am thinking of this being our season of forlorn hope - we do not expect other than to do and die and turn up again next week.

The performances are so underwhelming across the board.

Can't see cowboys bombing as many tries they did yesterday vs us.

Can't see our defence be as good as the titans scramble defence where they stopped other tries.

IMO there is absolutely no chance we win this. I don't think we'll win another game for 6-8 weeks until we get some actual first graders back in our side, and not park footballers combined with blokes who care more about having fun than winning.

Dearden, Holmes and Drinkwater vs the slowest backline in the NRL? They'll carve us up.

Holmes is a spot player. Drive plenty of traffic at him.

Cowboys have their own problems coming off 5 loses in a row. Agree we’re in worse shape, but I don’t think the wet track helped us the other night.

Every week is another chance to make some forward progress. And every loss drives a greater hunger for a win.

I think Middleton provided some stats that historically, teams that sack their coach get a win in their next 1-3 games at quite a high clip. So statistics are on our side. :)

…and the old saying “God only helps those who help themselves!”

Cowboys only came back when titans were down to 13 players.

But we will still lose in the last 20 when the cowboys put their props back on :(

We will likely have some troops back this week. AJ, Gagai and Milne. The week after Host. Mellars is back to full sprints at training as well. Although he will need some time in NSW Cup before he is even thought about being selected.

Of the regular first graders the rest are a while off.

With those 3 likely back this week it will mean Shibasaki won’t be required and hopefully Thompson back to NSW Cup. But it will mean Milne will be in the side.

I really hope they stick with Deon at half until we do get some troops back. Give him the experience. The other thing I’m hopeful of is starting Duncan. Would also start Tom as well.

Strange team the Cowboys

Top 4 roster, yet continually perform like a mid table team

Patten looked like being a really good coach but is struggling to get consistency out of that team

Some of their young forwards are beasts

On Mellars, if Teaupa, Shbasaki and French can get a run, I don’t think Mellars is going to HAVE to spend a set period in NSW Cup.

A good debut and he could be in the NRL side the way we’re going.
