2025 Pre-Season

Will be interested to see if there are any upcoming training reports. Read a rather unusual one that doesn't seem to add up that didn't paint a nice picture but could a troll.

Edit: haha, Rabbits21 just posted it
Sort of like when you recommend a restaurant to someone and they say “aw it was rubbish”. Was it really rubbish or just ok? Maybe it didnt meet expectations. So I’m sure Josh isnt shredded as out of his mind all of a sudden but I’m also sure he isn’t fat and I’m sure Cody just didnt decide to walk off because he felt like it or it “got too hard”.

He's big boned!!!

Agree though, I think expecting a well oiled machine, with everyone at top line fitness day 1 is wrong because, even though I agree we were out of shape (compared to other top teams), the idea of the boys individually smashing themselves (and then even Trent) flogging the shit out of them day 1 is a great way to ensure a spate of off-season injuries.

Need to ease them in and once fit enough, I imagine Trent can really push them to the levels we hope for.

Cody just had surgery, it was definitely not a “I’m just deciding to walk off”. He was training with the post rehab crew anyway.

Day 1 babyyyyyy!!!! We are soooo back!! The rise begins.

Here's a story gallery from the first day of Pre-Season.

Man oh man, I couldn't be more excited to see all of this and have the boys back at training!! The 2025 Season starts now!

Judging by those images, and the montage posted on social media, it seems that basically everyone but our rep players and those still injured were back today. That is huge!! All back far earlier than expected which is a great sign.

God damn, to see guys like Cody, Trell, Stretch, our new recruits Aitken and Schuster (for their first days ever), and Ty Ty back already is incredibly exciting.

I don't care about that posters report from training, sounds a bit biased in a negative way, and even if it is true, it's day 1 and you have to ease guys back into full fitness before going nuts. Day 1 is never hard out. We'll be right, standards are gonna be fine with Wayne and Elkin.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!! I'm pumped!! Don't think I've ever been this hyped for a Pre-Season!

Mitchell, Schuster, Graham on deck for Rabbitohs pre-season, but Bennett a no-show

The Rabbitohs have started their bid to shake off an injury-riddled 2024, returning to Maroubra on Wednesday for day one of pre-season training and the start of the Wayne Bennett revolution.

However, supercoach Bennett was absent for South Sydney’s return, as Ben Hornby, Steve Antonelli, John Sutton and Trent Elkin ran drills for the team, which was without skipper Cameron Murray and the rest of their representative players.

Murray underwent surgery on Wednesday on the scapholunate injury he picked up in camp with the Kangaroos, with the club confirming the operation had been a success.

In a statement the Rabbitohs said Murray’s “wrist will be immobilised in a cast for a six-week period, after which his progress will be assessed and a rehabilitation program implemented. A time frame will be established once he has completed the initial six-week period post-operation.”

Murray’s injury is a blow for South Sydney, who will now likely be without their captain for the start of the season, with scapholunate injuries typically taking up to five months to heal. Murray also missed a significant chunk of the 2024 season due to a hip flexor injury.

However, for the team that was hit the hardest by injuries in the 2024 season – with their top 30 players missing a total of approximately 213 games due to injuries – it was a relief to see the return of stars such as Campbell Graham and Latrell Mitchell.

Graham missed the entire 2024 season due to complications with a sternum injury that he picked up in 2023, while Mitchell missed the end of this year with a foot injury.

Josh Schuster also made his appearance at Maroubra, for the start of his one-year contract at the club. The Rabbitohs threw the 23-year-old a lifeline earlier this year, after he parted ways with the Sea Eagles in April.

I'm not one for hyperbole, but that is 100% the slimmest Latrell has looked since leaving the Chooks.

Hate to be that guy, but to me, that kinda infuriates me a little with Trell and the club.

JD and so forth allowed such blatant unprofessionalism to take over in the club and it's cost us at least 2 seasons and however long it will take to climb back up and be a power again.

I don't like being "that" guy and hate negativity usually, but he took us all for a ride with his weight and I was suckered into it as well.

Let's hope this is the start of a new-new era at Souths.
