2025 Pre-Season

Yes but Andrea didn’t sign a contract to play in a team. May has walked away twice, leaving his team in the lurch and would clearly do it again at the drop of a hat.
Talented and I’d probably take the risk on him but Imagine signing him on 500k, then he leaves after game 3

Nick Kyrgios is the same
Nobody cares if you’re an individual athlete, you’re only hurting yourself

I don’t know that anyone will want May given his attitude, I don’t know why Souths supporters would want to sign a bloke who says he doesn’t like the game & only goes through the motions because it’s good for the money
Ian Roberts said the same thing and he went all right

As far as I know he never came out & said he doesn’t even like the game whilst playing
And he always gave 100%
I can’t believe people are trying to find equivalence, especially either players that are long gone
We’ll never get the full story from the chooks, but if what he said in that interview has some bearing on him being moved on, I’m thinking that it wasn’t the only issue

Not sure that a fair comparison Jess, Sally totally hit the wall physically and mentally
Not really, she had done the same thing (stopped mid race) numerous times previously and her teammates called that our prior. She also was able to paddle again as soon as the race was over. Her teammates, who tried to avoid this happening prior to the Olympics were then thrown under the bus by self-serving admins.

Can she play front row?

Agreed. . . The difference is the impact it has in a team situation - as opposed to a tennis player withdrawing injured. No blame, but it does affect the whole team, like a league player who's buggered and just can't get across to make a tackle that they normally would.

But what’s your point? How does this relate to May?
This is specifically about him & him stating he doesn’t want to play
Sally Robbins just isn’t relevant

The Roosters just want to free up cash to fix their messed up squad.

The’ve picked a position they have a surplus in and chased the guy that’s easiest to move on (be it for ease of shifting his contract, seniority in the team, whatever).

I wouldn’t be putting too much stock in how the Roosters fill out their squad right now.

They have all the money and all the hype and are making really odd choices.

They haven’t fired a shot against the top of the competition since Cordner and Friend retired. Despite putting out an ‘All Stars’ team the media love each year.

The point is pretty simple. Someone said in an individual sport like tennis it doesn't matter too much if someone does a Nick Kyrgios - ie is uncommitted, chucks in the towel mid game etc - but in a team game (like league) it's very different. I gave the example of a rowing team where one person's actions, for whatever reasons, might completely destroy the team's chances. Might that apply to a half-committed player like May?

I agree with your comparison. Individual sports like golf, tennis and the like don't have the same result as in a team environment if someone is disinterested. I think it is different with May, from what I have seen, as he appears to be 100% into the game when he is on the field. Apparently from his comments he is not the same off it. As long as he is not discouraging to the team off the field then I don't see an issue. May just doesn't take his work home with him but gives 100% when on the job.
