‘Madge would be stupid not to pick him’: Tuqiri weighs in on Latrell debate

Lote Tuqiri will give his old coach Michael Maguire some selection advice at South Sydney’s 10-year premiership reunion on Saturday … but hopes he doesn’t take it.

For anyone who attended, how many of the 2014 team were there?
 
It’s pretty hilarious that 2 weeks ago when Madge left Trell out close to 100% of the media were comfortable with the decision.

About a quarter made passing comment that they would have had Trell there personally, but they got the approach with playing Sualii (57 NRL games into his career and playing on the wrong side of the field) ahead of Latrell (170 NRL games, 10 games for Australia, 7 for NSW, 2 premierships).

Suddenly Latrell has universal endorsement and Madge looks silly for picking the other bloke in the first place.

Gotta love rugba league.

Maguire is at best erratic,his selections game 1 were Chook biased!

From what I remember there was an article, without any actual quotes, suggesting that Trell was keen to simply focus on Souths and withdraw his name from the NSW selection pool.

With that article, and without any actual quotes from Trell confirming or denying, people ran with it and he was either a "lousy, good for nothing traitor to the state", or, he was "shit and what a non-story as he wasn't going to be picked anyway".
 
I mean, you can’t blame Galvin.

Getting dangled the chance to play outside Cleary and in a Panthers system going for 4 in a row? What 18 year old wouldn’t envy that opportunity.

And I’m fine with the Panthers pursuing him (at arms length so as not to rouse the NRL).

The Dogs, Tigers and NRL in general have pillaged their squad. Just because they have weathered the raids and gone from strength to strength doesn’t mean they can’t want to fight fire with fire from time to time.
 
All teams do it.

We did it with that art collector.

Just let the manager and player know there is some serious interest in getting you to the club if you are open to an offer and willing to do what's needed to get the release.

Faux outrage is only because no one wants to see the panthers getting stronger.

Le Blanc is a chance, but it could also be Cristiansen (older, has played more footy this season), or Teaupa (has already debuted, you know what you’re gonna get).

Can’t see anyone outside those 3.

Though Bentley-Hape has been on the extended bench for a while now too.

Obviously Le Blanc has the dev pedigree.
 
Probably a silly question but I am keen to find out the facts. When a player's run metres are recorded by the GPS tracker does it only measure forward movement or do players like Luai who dances around in circles and James Tedesco who crabs sideways get inflated stats? ( No bias in my question at all 🙄)
