Thompson has to request a move to the pack or the UK to earn another payday.

Out of that off contract group I’d keep maybe Te Hau and Teaupa.

The rest can go

I’d actually pay Kennar and Milne the balance of their contract and let them go now tbh.

I'd keep Tass and gagai on small contracts. They are pretty good back ups

Havili needs to move on to ESL doesn’t offer anything and Host too

Guys who should be gone by next year

In my opinion

Hawkins
Tass
Thompson
Te Hau
Chee Kam
Milne

not disagreeing but replacing 9 of top 30 is almost impossible ……….you know what quality we’ll end up with as replacements

Current contracted 2025 positional depth.

Top 30 spots open = 6 (7 if Ilias walks)
Dev spots open = 5

Fullback: L Mitchell, Gray

Wing: Johnston, Munro, Mellars

Centre: Wighton, Graham

Half: Walker, Dodd, Ilias***

Prop: Moale, Tatola, Arrow, Havili, Keppie, S Mitchell**

Hooker: Cook, Mamouzelos

Second Row: Koloamatangi, Host, Lovett, Fletcher

Lock: Murray, Duncan

**Offer Tabled
***Permission To Negotiate

You probably want 4 outside backs of varying quality, a backup half if Ilias goes, a prop to replace Burgess, and an edge.

And then some genuine quality depth in your Dev contracts. Mix of up and comers and under valued veterans.

Ah starting with the excuse’s already. Yes let’s continue the culture of excuses and failure of the last 3 years

You do realise along with the ESL ( which we are looking at) there’s their ESL pathways, Super Rugby, Sevens Rugby and NZ school boys which all can be poached

I wouldn’t imagine it’s hard to find 5-6 young athletes amongst that group to compliment the signings of Dodd and a couple of ESL props and hopefully Su’a and Clarke

Also Tesi Nui is off contract, can play wing, centre and fullback better than Milne and the rest of the plodders. Perfect depth guy

Hopefully Wayne keeps writing names on paper for Ello to sign

There has to be better options then the ones we have at the moment depth has been a issue for us since Wayne left

After Dodd, I have my top 30 ‘new blood’ number at 5 (that’s assuming Ilias goes).

I’d retain Tass and Chee Kam at the right price.

Those 2, plus a depth half, top 17 prop, edge that can push to start, and 2 outside backs (Clarke please, and an up and comer/depth piece).

Then Wayne and a new high performance team.

That will do me hahaha

You want to keep those two? For the right price? They need to be shipped on out of here ASAP

Players I’d be Happy to Let Go
  • Cook (no longer value for money)
  • Host
  • Keppie
  • Chee Kam
  • Milne
  • Thompson
  • Hawkins
Players to be put on Notice
  • AJ (due to age)
  • Keaon
  • Walker
  • Tass

youre spot on, it’s a wonder they don’t have your name down on a piece of paper.
I’m reliably informed, under the proviso of anonymity to protect the source, that Brown was #1 on the hit list for coach. He was approached, but declined, so they went to Wayne as the sad second choice. Sloppy seconds if you will.
