Player Damien Cook

I'd hardly call it domination.

He's no Danny Buderus or Cameron Smith. They dominated.
It was an unusual time in the competition hey. Not many dominant hookers getting around. Api wasn't as good as he is now. Egan was not around. Grant wasn't around either (although he is mega rocks and diamonds). Smith was the most recent absolutely dominant hooker in the comp hey, as much as I hated his grubiness that he always got away with

Yep, I definitely agree. The timing for Cook grabbing the Origin jumper was certainly favourable for him.

Yeah it was for sure. And, to be fair, he had to be good enough to grab it, and at the time he certainly was.
Shame about the most recent years

Its a shit time.

Not 90s or 2000s shit.

But shit none the less.
Unlike back then we still have a roster that can turn it around pretty quickly once we move on the clowns in the football department and coaching staff

We have:
Murray
Wighton
Arrow
Graham
Trell
Keaon

All in the top 4-5 in their respective positions in the competition

Supported by young talent in Tallis, Gray, Munro and Moale

I also still don’t believe you go from the best 5/8 in the competition by a country mile to one of the worst in 12 months. It’s mental for Cody atm

The question is are the club going to be ruthless enough to cut who needs to be cut and sign who needs to be signed?

They also need to have a good at the way we develop and recruit our pathways. The talent needs to be way deeper.

At this point in time, I believe the club sits on the edge of the cliff. Act fast, decisively and ruthlessly to rectify what needs rectifying or take a slowly, slowly approach worrying about the bottom line and short term public image and it’s going to be the bottom of the cliff for a while. And anyone who thinks a winner like Murray will hang around to be flogged and win spoons is f$&@ken delusional

At the time he was hands down the right choice for the role.

As you say, Api wasn't quite at his current elite level at the time and then in subsequent years when other hookers started emerging, the easier choice for Fiddler was to stick with the incumbent in Cook.

Fiddler played Cook in the centres :ROFLMAO:. That's hardly a hooker dominating his role in a representative side.

Cookie is a Lleyton Hewitt type. Did he get a little fortunate to play his absolute best footy during a changing of the guard? Yep.

He repaid that faith perforating incredibly well at Origin early on, those performances were read by faith.

The calls for him to be sacked, moved on, or play out his career in reserved grade are wide of the mark.

He’s a good NRL hooker.

A walk up starter or bench option (depending on tactics) in any NRL team.

Instead of sticking the boot in, let’s look forward to the ship being righted and a Mamouzelos/Cook combination performing well for Souths, along with our other top flight players soon.

Yes, he was the Bradbury of hookers.
He was one of NSW’s best when he debuted and early on in his NSW career. He earned his spot and repaid the faith in his selection.

Have to agree. Hopefully it's not going to be the latter.
Come on Nick and co - get ruthless!

Who do you suggest we sign
A handful of players not available, not looking at Sydney, who want too much cash, or ones who have a preference of another club due to past relationships (I.e the way we got Wighton). :)

If people want Cook to move on then we need to go to market for a crafty hooker.
Our hooker cupboard is empty.
