Any truth in we’re trying to get Caleb Clarke before the June cutoff date?
 
could be why we’ve kept the positions open, despite some being critical of the decision to do so
 
Clarke fills a gap.

But he doesn’t move the needle on improving this team’s performance across the park.

For all the ‘if we play to our potential’ stuff - that’s exactly the problem. They can’t.

One thing he’d definitely improve is breaking tackles on kick returns. I know he’d have to adjust to the NRL but this bloke is a slam dunk to fit the bill IMO. Speed, power and agility in a big package…he has it all.

What a signing that would be.

But maybe we need to look at someone in the halves if Hawkins isnt up to it and Cody cannot reverse his form slump.
 
If the Caleb Clark rumour is true it just shows how stupid our recruitment is.

The bloke has never played a senior game of Rugby League.
Yeah he’s a great Rugby Union player , but are we going to break the bank for a winger who for all we know might struggle in Reggie’s.
The outside back that we sorely needed is now at the Roosters scoring 100 meter tries.

Our spine needs a total revamp. We’ll never win a comp with Mitchell at fullback. He makes just as many errors as Ilias. Most of them very soft.
Put the fork in Walker and Cook . They’re done.
Ilias and Hawkins aren’t leading us to premiership glory.
Our only Ray of sunshine is Gray and Munro. We’ll never know with Mamo because he’ll be 33 before he gets a crack.
Apparently the experts think just because you debut at 26 means you can play on till you’re 40.
Expect Cook and Walker to be signed for another two years in November.
If we don’t fix the spine up we will be in the Rugby League wilderness for years to come.
 
So the rumour on radio this morning is Bennett back to Souths for 2 years with Sam Burgess as assistant.

Not sure how that would work considering the contractural situation of Burgess, but then, he does have a history of not seeing contracts out for the agreed term.
 
Burgess coming is an interesting one. With how things happened when he left could we see him back here so soon?

No doubt Russell and Sam are still close. There is that, but can Sam and Latrell and Cody move past their issues?

To me right now it seems more of a speculative rumour than having legs. I’m not sure if going down the Bennett path again is such a good thing now.
 
I think the Bennett/Burgess combo could be the best scenario for Souths going forward if we decide to part ways with JD.

Cody, Latrell, Murray and Bennett/Burgess need to all get in the same room and get on the same page about what is required and what they want to achieve.

Imagine the combined powers we would have if all these guys were rowing in the same direction?
