I was looking up the longest streak without scoring a try and I came up with:

Here are the 'top' players - I worry a little about how accurate the records are for the top 2 being so long ago and I removed some players who were lower down the list from many years ago.

Thanks for including the first half of our life. Many of these polls and studies only ever mention souths from about the 50s onwards. I find that first 50 years as intriguing as the last. Its not a fair dinkum poll or study without our whole lifespan taken into account and should be ignored if treated like that.

I don't think that list is 100% accurate.

Owen McCarthy only played 65 games for Souths and 13 for Balmain. I do think he still holds the record though.

Lindsay Johnston was 28 games.

Frank Puletua (26 games from 2002-03) and Frank Bonner (24 games from 1944-47) should also be on the list.

There's probably a couple of others.

Is that all from the memory banks @yobbo84? o_O

The interesting part about the early days was City Cup - sometimes the NSWRFL competition would end, and the same teams would play a City Cup competition - of almost equal length, yet this is never counted towards any records. I'm sure some of the history buffs on here could add some more info!

Don't rely on history buffs...Bigbopper was there in person at the first game in 1908! 😛

Especially for fans like yourself who really appreciate the first half because after that you’ve usually switched off.
