That’s the handy thing with Tass can play centre or wing he’s very solid certainly imo a step up on Milne, Kennar, Myers, J. Gagai etc
Milne just had a better season than Tass ever has.
As I said, as a backup, Tass is a good player. But he’ll be a starter more often than not next year with no AJ to start (and we have zero indication of what form he’ll come back in), Munro 7 games into his career, Graham coming back from 12 months out and a very serious injury (Jack Bird struggled on return with the same injury) and a 32 year old Jack Wighton.
Myers and Gagai are NSW Cup players who shouldn’t be asked to play more than 2-3 games a year. They’re on dev deals, not top 30 contracts (we hope Gagai is at least), which says something about how the club rate their quality and readiness to contribute.
Mellars is a wild card, given he has the athletic makeup, but he’s yet to prove his body can handle the rigours of NRL.
It’s not looking great in the outside backs, outside Graham, Wighton and Munro.
Tass is a backup because he’s comparatively slow, not big, and has little passing skill.
He’s a solid defender with an offload. Great depth, average starter.
Fine for games against bottom 8 sides. Will hold his own against teams 5-8. And will get shown up for pedigree if he’s out there against top 4 sides.
A good depth signing, but not the answer to our shortcomings out wide.
