They’ve offered him 5 years and a trade with Smith to the Cows who have laughed at them. Cows have a rookie half next season and cant afford a new hooker as well so it’s incredibly unlikely to happen for next season atleast

Robsons still got a year to go, I believe and the cows have offered him 2 more after that with an option as well

Yeah, and Smith has stated that he doesn't want to go back to Townsville in pretty straightforward statement.
So, my guess too is that Robson stays north of the border until 26.
Do you feel sorry for the Roosters like me?? 😂

I could be wrong (which rarely occurs mind you), but I get the feeling that TrentR is looking at 25 as a rebuild year and is strategically planning for 26/27.
Otherwise, I just dont figure what he is up to.
Am I alone on this one?

No more rumours for TaaneM.
He has signed with the Huddersfield Rabbits (oops) Giants on a 2 year deal.
I 4 1 wish him all the very best.
Actually, wish Taane and Jacob and Tom all the best.
Hope they do well next year. I will watch with interest.
Where will he play??
I am guessing 2nd row or 13.
Good memories Taane and farewell
Thanks for all your efforts for us! 😁

I want to get Brandon Smith, just for the verbal he gives the Roosters when he wins number 22 with us!!! He’s got a bit of the Isaac Luke’s about him…I can see him coming here and really buying in!!!

ATM Jack's utillity value is plugging the left centre hole though.

It's likely that we will have Lodge and Brandon Smith for next year so I doubt that there will be enough money left over for Staggs.
.
Staggs would be costly and provide zero benefit to our side so I am good if there is no money left for him. I would rather Jack at left centre where we contracted him to play and CG at right centre. Best is to look for players we do need and skip those we don't. Like your suggestion of Matt Lodge would be great. That is who we need to help win the middle.

Smith confirmed on the Bye round that his desire is to have his 2026 contract sorted prior to returning to the field mid season.

The only way he’ll consider leaving early (2025) is if someone at the Roosters tells him he’s not wanted.

We need a prop and someone outside backs.

Don’t know why there are talks with us signing Smith or Bateman. It’s not what we need.

Hopefully it’s just media BS

It’s coming into the 6th season since they last played in a GF. The pundits have them as near favourites every season based upon the perception that they have a gun roster…now that roster is getting a broom put through it surely it can’t be much longer before Robbo gets the spotlight put on him.

He can “desire” all he likes but why would anyone take the risk this soon into his injury.
why pay him to sit out injured and he does his knee again when trying before playing

let the rorters suffer with then and then strike. Hopefully we won’t need him by then

From his point of view, better to get a deal locked away when he’s about to be fit again (whatever that deal is). If he comes back and does a knee or something, then he really will be without a home for 2026.

So to your point, doing the deal when he’s towards the end of his extended preseason mid year is the safest option for his side. Even if that’s a little less lucrative.

Someone will realise mid season they desperately need a Smith type for 2026, so I’m sure he’ll have suitors, be it for the remainder if 25 (assuming the Roosters push him), or from 26 onwards.
