$550-$600k is market-value so it’s not really offsetting Jack

What could and hopefully will offset Jacks overs, is Humphreys. If he continues to show excellent form and keeps the 7 that will definitely compensate for Jack

The fact they could have Smith in their cap on $800k with the roster they had/have shows exactly how well their cap was managed

Compare that to us, who have a reported $250k spare in the cap, with a mid table roster shows just how bad Ello has been at cap management and building a roster

Even this year, despite all the poor Robbo press. They still have a top 4 roster
Give Bellamy, Cleary, Wayne or Madge that roster they’d still make a prelim

Think 1 year is good really good in this case.
If our other 'gun' outside backs come good then hopefully he returns to Dragons and a win win situ.
If they dont develop and Ravalawa has a big year then it's likely further negotiations will transpire...again win win

One would think that if the club wanted him to stay & Saints were happy to move him on, we’d have to negotiate a new release & deal, the same as Sullivan
I think both might be available for next year, it just comes down to terms

Let's f**king goooooo!!! Sounds like it's pretty much a done deal. If we're getting him for $550k, then that is absolutely insanely cheap for a player of his caliber. I'd be absolutely wrapped with that, and we could get some real value out of that.

I agree with the sentiment that Brandon will come to us a more weel-rounded person. He has to work his way back up, and he'll want to prove a massive point. I have no doubt he could get back to his best under Wayne.

Super exciting to be honest! I was skeptical at first, but keen as now!!

More good news. It's important to remember that this is a depth signing. Full strength, Ravalawa isn't going to make the side. If he does, well then that's a win for us because he'd have to be at near career-best form. Of course, he'll probably play plenty of Footy initially because of our injuries, but full strength, he's depth.

Great signing I think for what it is, depth. Goes a long way towards solving our depth issue there, for this year at least.

Pretty happy with this.
 
So a possible Round 3 starting 13 of:

Gray, Johnston, Wighton, Graham, Ravalawa, Walker, Humphreys, Arrow, Mamouzelos, Moale, Koloamatangi, Aitken and Hubner?

Sharks won’t know what hit them. :)

I have spoken out saying I don't want Smith for a few reasons

But, if they are talking around 550k max then I am warming to the idea. I don't think he is a hooker in the pure definition of the role, but I have to say hooker is a real weakness for us.

Despite his improved form I still just don't see a quality NRL hooker in Mamo.

Would having Smith instead of Mamo make us a better team?
I think yes, without doubt.
