Match Discussion Round 6: Rabbitohs vs Cowboys

Over the two games you mention how were his kick metres, LBA's and TA's?

A 5/8 is not there to be a defensive machine.
As long as he is kicking us out of trouble and setting up tries then he is doing his job.

He's also played one game for us at 5/8, perhaps allowing him some time might be appropriate.
He's just come back after a long lay off.

Get what ur saying... however
Last week, just 6 tackles at centre

Humphreys was kicking us out of trouble too and tackling his heart out as well
After his 2 try assists, i'm more interested in what he does in the other 78 minutes
Jumping into dummy half every chance he got was not the way to play himself into the 6 position
When do the excuses run out over his lack of effort?

I don't accept there is a lack of effort so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

He has also been shuffled around from centre, to half, to 5/8 in 2 games.
Personally I feel if he is setting up 2 tries a game I am not concerned if he doesn't top the tackle count.

He was playing ****ing halfback essentially

When was the last time you saw a halfback run more than a few times a match?

He setup tries and kicked us out of trouble

I.e. literally did his job

What is wrong with people honestly
Exactly. He had 62 touches, the only players with more were the hookers and Drinkwater with 62 too.

The good thing is the comp leaders are only 4 points ahead of us and they have had a bye. Factor in we play them Friday and this presents a a great opportunity for us.

Now, will we take the opportunity......

Not a happy chappy today. Just so friggin disappointed in what we dished up, tough one to take.

WA version of Accor by sounds of it 😐
Similar but worse. Watching the 2014 grandfinal from a similar seating position was much better. It is not helped by the dead audience. My son said that for 10 minutes it was just silence. My Broncos best mate half way through the second half mentioned that the crowd finally woke up!

If Campbell and Cody is back next week do they drop Tass play Trell centre and Campbell wing?

Or do we move Trell to FB Gray to 14 and keep Tass in?

Wayne said Trell FB when troops are back

Thanks Squidge for the update
At least if we travel 3,000 lightyears for a game at high temperatures, i expect atmosphere.... what a bludger of a decision was for 4 us to play there.
Who makes these decisions????

Ps .... nice 2 know we have an agent in Perth

What a beautiful city. Such great memories of being there.

Would love to get back there again.
We lived in Goderich Street East Perth for 2 years
Loved the whole thing Squidge ...

Hope we keep in etouch ... ps ... enjoy city beach and Scarborough in evenings...
I will take our family back there again

Hope Souths can add cheer to your life over there

AND, I really want to see a WA team in the nrl BIG TIME
😁

With suspensions (Sullivan) and potentially returning players (Cody & Campbell?) I would go with the following.

1. Gray
2. AJ
3. Wighton
4. Latrell
5. Campbell
6. Cody
7. Dodd

What will be interesting will be Dodd’s selection - if he misses out then Bennett has effectively ruled him out of playing in the NRL with our half likely to be Cody and 5/8 remaining with Latrell which could mean that Aitken stays in the centres.

Tuesday will be an interesting selection day but I’m expecting Dodd and the above to be our backs against the Dogs.

I would agree with @rabbitray and go with;
FB Grey, Left edge Latrell and AJ, Right edge Wighton and CG, Halves Cody and Dodd. That would put Aitken at 2nd row. Latrell can still do the long down field kicks when needed but the last play kicks should be sent to Dodd. Also don't discount Dodds ability with down field kicks either. He is the most likely to get us a 40/20.

I think the "troops" would include our right winger, either Munro or Rava returning before Latrell returns to FB with Grey at 14. I could be wrong but that's the way I see it.

I agree with u Ray.
If Benny doesn't select Dodd this week, then I think he could really be on the outer with SS

With Cody, Humphreys, Shuster etc coming back and so many options including a somewhat disappointing Sullivan (this week), the path ahead 4 himlDodd is looking maybe ... insurmountable?

If Benny gives him a chance, great for Dodd. But what pressure he will be under to perform with a flood of competing 'stars' returning soon

At some time in the near future, Benny will be forced to look at freeing up big $$$ by releasing some middle/high$$ players for 26+

Some R obvious while others are contestable, so I won't stir the pot here by suggesting names.
Many of us know who they may be.

Once again. a HUGE TLTuesday coming up methinks.

Are SS management planning another Cairns/Darwin/Perth nrl tour for 2026?

I’m good with whichever way Wayne goes.

There are pros and cons for both.

Wayne would have a better idea who can slot in best.

I’m keen on Latrell at 5/8 though, and I imagine he’s the primary ball player.

It’s likely to be a few weeks, so whoever gets it likely has a stint there.

Well, speaking of honesty...

Humphreys kiced us out of trouble every game he played ...playing halfback essentially and did nearly 40 tackles in a game with great general play and totally involved AND won us a game with his first ever field goal AND he is on ... what 150-200k for the year vs $1.000,000.

ARE You Serious?

And When is player playing ... whatever halfback essentially means? stuck in dummy half for half the game and avoiding tackling (apparently because opposition players are afraid to run at him)
All I have ever wanted from him is to be true value for BIG money but I rarely see it
