Match Discussion Round 5: Rabbitohs v Roosters

PS ... I watched again on the mini replay of games on Foxtel and in my opinion... it was DEFINITELY forward imo
You know what's wonderful...you're entitled to your opinion even when it's completely wrong and demonstrates ignorance of the rules.

To reiterate...the forward pass rule states that a pass is forward if it's propelled forward out of the hands.

What happens after that is irrelevant.

Latrell's pass was not propelled forward out of the hands. It was flat at worse but every replay I've seen clearly shows it was backwards out of the hands.

If it then takes a 90 degree turn and looks like a gridiron pass, it means nothing.

It also means nothing if Tass caught the ball on the try line.

I'd suggest that you look at the relative positions of Latrell and Tass at the point of the pass.
Ps3...I wonder what the reaction of many of our members would have been if the Roosters had won the game with a similar pass
Dare I suggest it would have been very much different
Not from this 57 yr + supporter. Stating how long someone supports the club seems nonsenical to me, but there you go.

I'd be pissed off that my winger didn't defend the pass, and annoyed that they scored.

But I'd be vociferous that it wasn't a forward pass.

Just as I was vociferous that the Roosters pass that everyone bar the touchy thought was forward, was clearly forward out of the hands.

Well well just have to agree to disagree
Forward straight from his hands 4 mine.

Unfortunately NRL360 is on tonight which means its about to have air time until Thursday at least..
Hopefully something big happens today and they forget about it.

Which is what's annoying me about the "debate" we're having on here.

I can see the NRL360 commentary now..."even Souths supporters were saying it's forward!".

And all this massdebate (thanks @Shauno) is being used as fodder by NewsCorpse to take the focus away from the fact that their little darling and his little darlings are 1-4 and lost to a team that didn't have any interchanges left for the last 15 minutes, lost their halfback, 5/8 and right winger by 5 or so minutes into the second half and had second rowers playing as centres.

If the Coqs were the wonderful team that Buzz keeps telling us they were, then they should've put 20 odd points on us in that second half.

But no...let's talk about one of the best passes of this year and illegitimately claim its forward.

Does my head in.

Are you kidding? If there was ever one single reason in this universe to watch NRL 360 it is this week. The pass in question was not only thrown by Latrell, not only to win the game but it was against the Roosters. Braith is going to go off his chops. 🤣🤣🤣

Depends if you're a masochist?

At the completion of Round 5, we're in 5th position on the ladder. Not a bad start at all, but we have to keep it up.

Jye grows his lead in the Dally M's. So friggin impressive!!

Bronco’s Walsh praised for his 41 run metres against TigePies as Walsh “brilliance” and proof he’s “got his mojo back”

Are they for ****ing real??

Imagine Trell running for 41m in an entire game. He would be absolutely lambasted by the same “experts”. Seriously pisses me off.

Direction of Pass 1. The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards a colleague who is behind him but because of the thrower’s own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the ground. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not passed the ball forward in relation to themselves. This is particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high, lobbed pass.
