Match Discussion Round 27: Rabbitohs v Roosters

Now to re watch the match replay geez I’m gonna need more tissues
 
Well we won the Ron Coote cup back (y)
AJ scored 30 tries in a season for the 3rd time.
We put 50 on the Roosters
AJ increased his lead to 2 in the race for the Ken Irvine medal (but I think the Penrith winger will get it)
We secured a home final
Mitchell played the full 80 minutes
We put 50 on the Roosters
Elliot got through a game without a major injury (albeit he was pretty much held together by tape)
We have Duncan and Dufty to return
Fifita continued his terrific form
Cam is on fire
Spencer Leniu was a liability for the Roosters
Drew the largest crowd of Round 27 so far with an attendance of 41,513
We put 50 on the Roosters

A couple of cons though

Goal kicking at 50%
The injury to Euan Aitken which looks likely to keep him out of the final(s)

Certainly not the best option. His passing, running, long kicking is all better. Hard to believe we're about to go into a knockout final with bud at 7.

You can tell we don't have a good structure with bud at 7. Passes to the ground. No organization.

JH came on and immediately we looked better & he wasn't even at half.

Cody/JH have a very good win/loss record. With everyone back on deck so long as Jamie Kicks long and well he doesn't have to do much else for the team to get the win.

Mamo should be on the bench to spot Smith. That's another no brainer Bennett is getting wrong.

Just hope Mitchell can do the same to the likes of Cleary, Liam Martin and their 5/8 if we make it that far. In our last game in 2022 we were up 12 to 0 for a GF spot and he didn't do much for the rest of the game, two of his passes lead to dropped balls and two Panthers tries getting them back even.

Have a feeling Fisher Harris put a good shot on him, if Mitchell plays to his ability in the finals we're a chance to make the GF. He helped win the chooks two comps, hopefully he can help us win one.

That 2022 game we were decimated in the outside backs. We were never holding that 12-0 lead.

The right mindset and players performing you extend that lead, it was there for the taking. We weren't decimated, their stars performed the last 50 minutes where ours didn't.
 
With regards to Latrell’s tackle, Initially I was thinking: silly play.

But as the weekend has gone on…it was a statement.

Trell’s back baby.

If you’re a half and you want to “go deep into the line”, think twice!

If you want to run at Trell…”think three times”.

He's spent plenty of time on the sidelines since joining us through suspension and injury, he strings three outstanding performances the next 3 weeks then we are in the Grand Final. If our 7 can kick and pass then Cody and Latrell can do the rest if both perform.

Can virtually guarantee Murray will play to his best, Cody and Latrell do the same then we're a chance against anyone with our attack.

Perhaps go look at final team lists? They had stars. We did not. I know Johnston was a late out and we had Richie Kennar replace him. Taane Milne was there. I'm guessing Trell wasn't. CG? don't know. No Reyno. Illias was half. Cody wasn't effective because the men inside & out were perennial reserve graders vs a stacked dynasty team.
