Players who didn’t reach their potential

Still got time but Soni Luke will be 29 next season and in the right spine where he can be a ball dominate 9 similar to Hodgson I reckon he could've been one of the best hookers in the comp.

Tuned in a little late with the JT era. But a player I thought was good but played bugger all games with us, Germaine Paulson.
I know we had a lot of ins and outs back then, but I had hope in this bloke after that kick chase against the roosters in a round 1 match. Think he played maybe 1 or 2, then just disappeared.
Didn't have the hype of others listed. But came to my brain.

Nathaniel Barnes was one with some hype, but I didn't have a fox subscription to watch him play.

Joe Williams showed great promise but never reached the heights we had in mind.

Trouble is he was certainly not on his Pat Malone in that regard during that era. Pretty much every player we had then, we expected to be great when in reality they were pretty run of the mill

Yeah I recall there was some talk about Manly offering him a contract at one point and it caused a bit of consternation among the members. He was just about the only player on our books with any market appeal at the time.

I look at the skill of some of the players in our 1994 team and just wonder what they could have been had we not been run like the absolute cluster we were.

That is a kind of weird combo. Fulton I get but Horan over Rogers, Cronin, Miles, Meninga etc etc.
Unless I've misread the room, I would slot Mark Harris in that list before the etc.

Do any players not reach the potential? Whether they have attitude problems or injury problems, isn't that part of the factors in their potential.

Anyone player who makes it to the NRL has some ability. The great ones have more obviously but with many the issue is not how good they are at their best but how often they play at their best or close to it. And that too is a factor in their potential.
