2025 NRL Squad & Football Dept. Tracker

No, it was published. The raiders were whinging about the deal. Pretty sure it was published by the club.

A figure can be published. It doesn’t mean it’s correct
Footy players like everyone else have the right to privacy, I’d imagine that Canberra disclosing details of his contract would be illegal, as for his current contract that’s between Jack, his management & the club & I doubt any of them are going to voluntarily disclose it to the media

I’m slowly starting to feel ok about our outside backs situation.

I don’t know if that’s just because Wayne is ok with it and I have contentment through osmosis? Or because it stacks up.

I think we tick the most important box which is, we have a good starting list (especially once AJ is back).

Munro adds speed, you have a Kangaroos rep quality centre pairing (true fact), and Johnston (returning from injury), Tass or Mellars as an average/questionable final piece.

That leaves the 2 that don’t make the side to act as reserves.

You then have Meyers, who showed this season he’s a perfectly adequate 5th string winger.

At that point (or maybe one player deeper), no club has many good options. It’s varying degrees of bad.

If injury takes us further into depth than that, then you’re at the point where you can appeal to the NRL to use second tier players.

And I’m confident that our lower grades/the summer contract list will be able to provide a winger that can do a Gagai/Kennar quality job, which is all you can ask for at that point.

Oh, and there is always the option of playing Aitken or Mitchell (if Gray’s game develops) at centre, shifting Graham to a flank if we get stuck. Or shifting one of the young edges to a defensive centre role. Or using the 3 remaining roster spots to fill depth out.

I do quite like our best 6 outside backs. Hopefully we can keep them on the field.

I'll just put this out there . If Wighton doesn't play for us in 2024 we probably end up with the spoon. The amount of tries this guy saved though his fantastic cover defence seems to have been lost on his detractors on here. I thought he had a pretty good season given he got thrown into 6 after training all off season in the centres. Get behind your team and stop putting sh.t on players who obviously put in last season. Some people on here amaze me with obvious hatred at all things to do with both players and club. It's senseless crap ! 😡

This has been mentioned numerous times on here . Some people just need somewhere to vent their bullsh.t. No one knows except player, manager and club recruitment. It's actually hilarious people keep putting this sh.t on here.

I agree Jack was by far our best last season and we would almost certainly end up with the spoon without him, but at the end of the day he isn't playing 6 LT and we spent nearly a mill on an ageing centre when we already have graham on good coin and have other glaring issues.

Yes but we've been crying out for class signings and when we get one everyone starts complaining. No one was going to do better than Jack last year with our injury crisis. It's time everyone started forgetting about imaginary wages that they think they know a player is on and actually thinking about what that player can give to a fully functional team. Canberra came up with a figure after they were pissed off and media and media followers on here believed every word of it. Are these supposed figures true , I don't know and I'm sure no one else on here knows either. We may have got him for a steal ....Who knows 🤔

Wighton first year was cheaper mate in the 700k ballpark I believe and the media reported that too. The money does go up higher next season though.

He is a class player mate at least you do have to pay up for them we were short quality in the backs as well and it is handy Jack can play 6 too.

why can’t we just be happy signing good footy players, that’s what Wighton is, he’s a natural player, you gain a heap more than just some talented athlete who plays a straight up & down centre role

we don’t even know how Wayne will use him yet
its fun to speculate but I want to see how this all pans out

One of the big unknowns is how AJ will return from the Achilles injury.

I hope he’s 90% of the player he was (unrealistic to think he’ll be 100%) and he can snare the record at Souths.

But I’d feel a little better if Wayne pulled a rabbit out of the hat and signs someone like JAC or even Nene McDonald (who could play right wing).

All will be revealed in the next few weeks I guess.

If we are able to sign either an extra middle or outside back before 2025 kick off .... which one do we need most? ... especially given WB may hold a spot (if not 2?) up his sleeve
Guess it also depends on injury status of some players such as Tatola, Murray, AJ.

LOUIS GROSSEMY
Not listed, he was the Flegg captain last year, anyone have any info?
I thought he was reasonably well regarded

I feel like he didn’t kick on the way Le Blanc and the other junior forwards did.

Though they haven’t announced Flegg and NSW Cup squads yet. Could be in there still. He wasn’t on a dev contract last year and also wasn’t a summer train and trial I don’t think? So hasn’t necessarily dropped down the pecking order - perhaps just perceived that way as he was an announced Black Rabbit.

Manly sign Taukeiaho for 1 year.
When do we get our big middle???
Even on a 1 yr deal is ok with me.
Get em now and get em training with the team now.
