Next generation

I disagree
If you market a day at the footy as just that, that’s time warp mentality
I don't know how many games you go to but our demographic is looking pretty stagnant
Whereas if I go to other grounds I often see big groups of young people having a few beers, laughing, chatting, cheering, getting boisterous, the opposite to our crowds at Homebush
After a game at Homebush I want nothing but to get out of there, after a game at Moore park we often walk towards central, stop at a pub or two, go to Chinatown etc
That’s far more attractive
You get more people to games & the club can confidently spend a few quid to put decent entertainment on knowing it’s worth it, it’s a domino effect
One thing I detest is being at the game surrounded by loud mouth drunks talking shit. Forever having to shift to allow someone to go back to the bar for more piss during the game. Why go if you want to spend half your time lined up for an overpriced can of beer?

Well the alternative is going to be the status quo, a sedate, quiet crowd of middle aged people & families, totalling about 15K at best
I agree that when you have a bigger crowd & the beers are flowing you’re going to get pains in the arse annoying you, the good thing about the larger grounds, you can kind of move around a bit if you don’t have a yearly seat, if I sit up in the members bar you can bet that for some ungodly reason an annoying (usually well intentioned) pain in the rectum will sidle up beside me & get in my ear, I just attract them, it’s like bees to honey, but that’s rugby league, the supporters have always been characters

You're not the only one.

I hate trying to watch football in a pub or club, because some dope comes up and starts talking shit.

You can have both. You just develop a culture of watching footy whilst ensuring there’s enough extracurricular stuff doing around the game to draw a crowd.

And you make the barrier to GA entry super enticing as a start.

No one should be paying more than $20 to sit behind the goal posts.

Kids should be next to nothing in the bad GA seats. They’re atmosphere creators at that point.

Just because teams like the Sharks get their crowd culture wrong, doesn’t mean that’s the only way.

GA at Accor is a tough sell.

I wouldn't even pay $50 for a family ticket (which they've done in the past), it's that poor of an experience. Incentives aren't going to help.

What is also tough is we have I would say thousands of season ticket holders whose seats are reserved but they only show up 2-3 times a year. Makes it tough to give good seats to the walk-ins.

Yeah, both of those are tricky issues.

The GA thing less so.

Kids under 12 free GA with a parent ticket (and make the parent ticket ~$19.95).

13-17 years $9.95 GA in the worst seats (with free transport).

Obviously any junior league, rugby or touch player, free GA in the cheap seats.

And then like I said, you need to give people an extra reason to go to any game that isn’t the Dogs or Roosters.

Be it a food and craft beer festival, a double header, a cross promotion with other sport, tie-ins for what’s happening in the precinct (ala the Easter show), give aways, etc.

At least until you develop a culture of attendance.

The only problem with all this, is that bums on seats doesn’t seem to be anybodies actual prerogative.

2 Adults & 2 kids at Shark Park, GA, this weekend $105.00 dollars, and that is behind the goal posts. Are they kidding, to watch a game at that hole?

That's unfortunate. I love going to pubs and discussing how good Cody is with random Rabbitohs.

I'll talk to them after the game, and set them straight. Please piss off out of my face while I am watching a game.

Shark Park is 15 mins from my house and I'm never going to watch a game there again. Cesspit.
The softball ground finals have been called off because there is a game at Shark park, as the cark park over there is reserved for Game officials.
