Next generation

I was shocked, I was very adamant that I wanted the club to move to Moore Park & there was a lot of opposition
I still think it would be a great move & you might lose some people, you’d gain more
You won't gain more, as Moore Park is a shit hole of a place to get in and out of. No parking.

Plus there is a shifting population, which includes a lot of South Sydney fans, and getting to Homebush is much easier than getting to Moore Park..

The parking thing effects older fans more than the gen next this thread is about.

I’m in my 40’s and I still enjoy the pre and post match pilgrimage to and from central (or to an Uber from Oxford st away from the bulk of the crowd) engaging in banter with rival fans and stopping on the way.

I would never dream of trying to drive to a football game at Moore Park these days (but I wouldn’t drive to Homebush either considering there’s a perfectly good train station there).

Light rail goes straight to the Juniors doesn’t it?

People need to stop relying so much on cars, it’s perfectly accessible by public transport

Sure does go straight to the juniors
If people are determined to drive they could park at the juniors or around there & get the light rail to the stadium

Effects families, too, which is a huge portion of our crowds. Especially with most games at night, I just want to get home and get the kids to bed ASAP and driving is the best for that.

Bullshit is it. It tales me 2 1/2 hours to get to either by public transport, which is quite frankly a pain in the arse.
yeah but your not next gen Nifty. Respectfully your last gen. Enjoy watching it in the comfort of your home we don’t want you hurting yourself 😉

So I don’t know where you live you might be a case for parking at the juniors & using light rail
I’m talking about the majority of people who live around Sydney
Other countries seem to be able to do it & are just conditioned that way, we have a pretty good transport system these days
I understand it’s difficult when you take kids etc
I’d like to see a vibrant younger crew get involved & I think that will only occur when we’re in the city, younger people treating it as a place to have a few drinks, watch the footy, socialise & then the cities on the doorstep for the rest of the evening, that makes the footy attractive

That is time warp mentality. You don't attend footy matches to socialize you go to watch the game, and support your team. The city is not the attraction it was 30, 20 or even 10 years ago.

I disagree
If you market a day at the footy as just that, that’s time warp mentality
I don't know how many games you go to but our demographic is looking pretty stagnant
Whereas if I go to other grounds I often see big groups of young people having a few beers, laughing, chatting, cheering, getting boisterous, the opposite to our crowds at Homebush
After a game at Homebush I want nothing but to get out of there, after a game at Moore park we often walk towards central, stop at a pub or two, go to Chinatown etc
That’s far more attractive
You get more people to games & the club can confidently spend a few quid to put decent entertainment on knowing it’s worth it, it’s a domino effect

It’s a shame they don’t use Accor more appropriately. Put on a pre game food and beer fest outside the stadium. Keep it locked up till 30 mins before kick off then have everyone flood into the ground.

People complain about it not being like the old days with three grades being on the day, but when they do it, you have about 100 people watching Flegg, it gets a bit better for reserves but not great & people just seem to get to the game with 15 minutes to go

If we play at Allianz & there’s 20K people in the pubs in Surry Hills & Paddo & they get to the game just before kick off, that’s ok as long as the crowds are better
