Hey everyone,

As the discussion begins to shift towards 2025, it's a good time for this.

This is part of a little bit of an update we are undertaking on the Pride, new threads for all the main topics. These will all work similar to the old threads, but just updated for 2025, and we will make a new one each year from now on. Just makes things easier to navigate historically moving forward.

Please discontinue using the old thread, and post here if you can.

Moving forward, the mod team are going to be a bit stricter on what is posted in these threads too, and we'd like everyone to try and be a bit more diligent with where they post things because in the past, this general articles thread seems to be a bit of a dumping ground.

Obviously, the "Rumours" thread is for discussion related to rumours and speculation.

I think some people get confused about the "News, General Articles and Discussion" thread. The discussion should be about the news and general articles that have been posted. It's not for random thoughts or bits of information. Other discussion not related to the news and general articles should be in a new separate thread.

Thanks everyone.

Been an interesting discussion the past couple of days on SEN regarding the likes of Shaun Johnston following his game for the kiwis and last for the sharks.

Still an immense talent but The grind of a whole season has seen him pull up stumps. The suggestion is that he could be offered a contract to skip preseason, get himself ready & fresh to come back for, say, the last 12 games of the season next year.🤔

It made me wo der what a good option that may have been for GI, Sam in the past or even Tom this season

Two thoughts, a positive: Possibly would be great for Cody Walker he could play till he is 45 then we would have another 10 years to find a permanent replacement.

The reality: Na, not a fan. If your career is over it is over. Don't forget SJ just played a full NRL season and to be honest it wasn't as good as last season, which was his best of his last four seasons.

Also was tried with the Rooters and SBW and did not work.

Not sure that model works but I think the system we had with Benji is an option. Experienced guy coming off the bench, can fill a couple of spots, not required to play 80 minutes

I wonder whether that is a sign that the Dragons have secured Gutho for next year?
I think it’s a sign that Flanagan has jumped the shark at the Dragons.

Gutho can’t play in the halves and if they’re betting the house on the other Flanagan they’re nuts.

and I hope it keeps the merged scum down the bottom

The immediate release of Hunt has potential ramifications for several clubs - perhaps even ours.

As you said, the Dragons now have a huge hole in the halves. Gutho, if he is signed, will be the fullback. Perhaps someone like Ilias becomes a reasonable target for them for the next couple of years. I would certainly prefer Ilias to Flanagan.

Can you imagine this place if Flanagan was our halfback?!?

The bloke’s a myth.

I don’t think Lachie is going anywhere btw.

He seems committed to the club and earning a place in 1st grade.

I think it is very unlikely to have any halves movement between us and STG, thankfully. They will be loaded with the Hunt money and will chase Gutho unless a better option is on the market. Also I thought Sloane was good for them at FB so Gutho can be a 5/8 option.

Wouldn't want to be cookie if working with hunt was a reason to go there

They want Wishart that’s who they want.

May belong in this

Well, Cooky just gone there and if he is good mates with Lachie and gives good reference to Flanagan, who knows. However I still think Lachie wants to stay...
