Latest Rumours

The fact that Manly have elevated Humphreys to deputise for DCE is a bit of a worry ….. maybe he has had a change of heart re jumping ship to Souths.
It‘s been a few weeks since the signing news was reported but nothing has come from the club…
Bennett v Seibold. Yeh nah…

I’m sure I read somewhere that there are options for him over in the ESL. I do know that last year Willie Peters was interested in him. Probably suit him over there.
Agreed, the kid has lots of good attributes but he is not a top line NRL half. Would do well in in the ESL. Can lead a team around, has an adequate kicking game and can tackle but absolutely no X factor.

There have been times where they’ve ’held’ announcements to bundle.

JD’s signing last year was delayed with that excuse.

They may be wanting to announce a couple of signings at the same time so as to not have speculation about where to next.
Or could it be that the club doesn't want to interrupt the team with signing news while they're on a 5 game winning streak? Some players who are playing for contracts probably don't need that kind of news right now.

Kennar will probably snag an ESL contract after his good form for us recently.

It's not about jumping ship and more about winning this week without DCE. Lawton played 7 for DCE when he was out for SOO. He is a specialist Hooker. I think he played backrow last week off the bench. Humphrey, also now a hooker, but is a very accomplished half.

I’ve never seen Humphreys play, but the chat seems to indicate that the shift back to the halves the last month has been good for his footy?

Keen to see how he handles himself on the weekend.

Three new players are set to take the field in the NRL this round, with Jamie Humphreys, Clayton Faulalo and Lorenzo Mulitalo all making their debuts.

Humphreys, 22, will play his first game for the Sea Eagles in Round 19 after long being touted as the club’s heir to Daly Cherry-Evans’ halfback throne.

He’s also been plying his trade at hooker and the halves this year in NSW Cup, playing his last seven games at five-eighth and halfback.

While there’s big wraps on Humphreys who is Manly’s reigning Jersey Flegg player of the year, his debut could be the Rabbitohs’ gain.

Incoming coach Wayne Bennett has reportedly recruited the rising star, handing him a two-year deal amid interest from the Sharks and Raiders according to the SMH.

Fellow halves partner Luke Brooks told AAP he was certain the debutant was going to have success in the NRL.

“He’s a great player,” Brooks said.

“The way he trains, he trains so hard. You know what he’s going to bring to you. We have plenty of trust in him if he does play.

The couple of games I watched of St Helens, Moses Mbye did all the playmaking. Poorly too. Dodd just ran around pushing up through the middle and took the line on every now and then.

Super League is a mess. I've mentioned before but I wouldn't judge anyone on how they go in that competition. Judge them on their individual moments.

If true I hope this is a precursor to us getting him over here early like the Roosters did with that Rugby dude.. get him used to Aussie conditions faster.

No problem with Dodd as we'll have Humphreys and possibly Ilias for back-up.
.

That would be me. This could be a version of "commentators curse". A lot will depend on how he bounces back from being dropped. Michael Jordan was dropped from his university team. He bounced back ok.

Steve Waugh too now that I think of it.
And it could be his coach preparing for next year when he's gone too I guess.
And from what people are saying it's a Wayne pick, and he knows a thing or two about footy.

Yes his future is with Souths now not St Helens. His highlights package looks like what we are after, but by definition, it is devoid of ordinary efforts. 2025 will be the first half, 5/8 & coach combo that I have been excited about that didn't include Reynolds.
