Player Jye Gray

Bennett’s mad if he moves Gray. It’s an absolute no brainer to keep him where he is.

It’s arguable at this point as to who is the better fullback but if you move Gray you lose what he brings to the team.

If you move Latrell well, he’s still the best centre in the world at this point and we’re currently fairly weak on the flanks. You strengthen an area of need.

For mine, Gray stays put, Latrell to centre and Wighton to 14. Wighton is a genuine utility who can play anywhere across the halves / backline and probably even second row at a push.
Trell and Wighton are both experienced enough to play well at right centre and are both infinitely better than Tass.

Team list Tuesday will be fascinating wont it ???
Yes very interesting, competition for spots will likely mean that players that are playing good football may find themselves in reserve grade.

Just on the thought of Grey on the Wing when Latrell returns. I don't see his height as a hindrance as he makes up for it in other areas. He has been a success at FB so I don't see why he can't be as successful on the Wing. Isaiah Thomas, the Phoenix Suns Point Guard, had a very successful NBA career and is only 2 inches taller than Grey. Spudd Webb won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1986 at only 5'7". I think we need to put Grey in the starting 13 and if Wing is the only spot, regardless of his size, put him there.

Maybe he can defend at fullback and trell goes there in attack. Best of both worlds

In any case he cant be dropped now, so imagine its trell to centre but a cpl of losses will change that.

Gray won't displace AJ or Rava if they are available though Bruster.

Nice to see some of Gray’s passing come off last night.

Him missing out completely and spending a few weeks developing that aspect of his game over 80 minutes in NSW Cup might not be the worst thing that could happen.

Especially if thinking about Trell possibly missing from key games at the end of the year.

Is he going to get all that much out of playing 20 minutes off the bench each week?

Just a thought.

Yes it will be fascinating to see how Benny uses him.
Hope he becomes a real match winning impact player for us.
Also will be interesting if he tries him on a wing with AJ out
Sullivan aint been too bad though ... having said that ... his stats don't jump out at you either
Ain't too bad for a bloke that can't tackle..

We could get a boost if Grey came on in the last 20 mins, similar to Tyrone Peachys role for the Riff back in 2018. I recall in one of the early rounds he came on with 20 to go and cut us to pieces. We were up 14 - 6 and went down to them 14 - 18. Grey could play something like that role for us too.

I get the thinking there and much to like with this approach...
My thinking is that he is so high energy...the more the better ... 20 seems too low but I also understand we need to interchange our forwards as much as possible

You bring on Gray for 25 minutes each half. Cuts them to shreds!

Other thing with just 20 minutes is ...
Sometimes e.g. in that game with Peachy, it comes off
But sometimes a player can (I feel) come on and overplay their role the shorter the minutes they get
Can I quantity this? Ummm actually NO ...just a feeling probs based on similar expectations in the past

Jye is leading the Dally M's after Round 4 with 14 points.

Interestingly, Connor Tracey is 2nd with 13 points.
Ponga is =3rd with 12 points.
Will Kennedy is =6th with 10 points.

It's the era of the small fullback...

Crichton is captain of the club, their big marquee, and happily plays center to accommodate the meta.

Latrell must wake up, accommodate what's best, and absolutely shit on every inferior player that opposes him out on the edge. He would literally eat up the regular rounds at center.

Latrell's best skill is his final pass, and quick soft hands... why are we acting like centers don't get the chance to throw this ball?

Let Jye do the annoying meta stuff.

It just makes too much sense.

1. Gray
3. Latrell
12. Wighton
13. Arrow

It writes itself.
