Player Josh Schuster

Yasssssss!!!!! Fantastic to finally have this all locked in and confirmed! I am one happy chappy after seeing this news!

I know some will be against it, but I still maintain I'm all for it! This honestly has the potential to be the signing of the Season, especially if it's for under $300k as reported. He has the potential to give us an $800k or something like that output if that makes sense.

Wayne will get the best out of him, I believe that, and this signing has a Wayne project written all over him. Just imagine what a fit and focused Josh Schuster could do for us under Wayne?!!! Wowwwww!

The one-year signing is great too because it's zero risk. If he doesn't put in, and if it doesn't work, then no harm done and we cut him loose.

Great stuff Souths!! I'm excited about this! Could be huge!!
I’m happy about this we all know the potential is there he has talent it’s about putting his mind to it getting fit and committed. If anyone can get the best out of him it’s Wayne. Strong talk it’s at a tick under 300k too. Apparently he’s already started his pre season too. Over to you now Josh to take this opportunity welcome mate to The Pride Of The League!

Before we start picking new recruits as instant starters, they should have to earn their spot first.

We gave Keppie a starting spot last season
Hopefully we don't see Keppie in first grade in 2025

The guy is only 23. Has only ever played at one club which severely lacked in off-field leadership for a long time. He was handed massive money before he earnt that right (not his fault). His ego got checked, and now there's plenty of time for him turn his career around. Playing under Bennett or Bellamy is the right choice for him.

Most gun back rowers these days run hard, run good lines and break the line in attack.

Shuster never really been the type to do those things.

He will have offloads in him, his offloading was hit and miss.

His work ethic in defence will need improvement.

But for 200k or whatever it was, worth an experiment and risk.

But i don't see him being a Kotoa, Crichton, Olakau'atu, Martin type back rower.

He really doesn’t have a clear position at the NRL level. Maybe super sub will be his go.

Ban him from KFC and Maccas and tell him what playing weight he needs to achieve to make the 17 and he may go OK, if serious hopefully he's already started training.

Agreed. Just saying on potential that could be a pretty dynamic setup.

I remember reading one article that described Keppie as an enforcer! 😄
Maybe Bennett can work some magic.

Keppie is our best PCM forward on the eye test. Our only forward who can create some momentum if our set has already started slow with carries 1 and 2 by the backs.

With the loss of Tom and the disappearance of Tatola (not been the same since his injury vs the Roosters in 2023) we need him.

He's not that bad. He's actually quite good potential wise.

He just has a strange habit of coming up with errors at the worst possible time, usually when we are on the front foot. A lot like Liam Knight. Those stick in the memory and sour fans.

The timing of errors are one thing (would be fine if his output matched Murray or Koloamatangi, but it isn’t). I’ll add, he only had 8 for the season as per Fox Sports. So perhaps we’re a little harsh there.

For me it’s his defence. Too many times I see him either loose to contact, laying down in the ruck while the play the ball is happening or slow to marker. It’s a killer. I could care less if he has a metre extra in his carry at that point.

I have him behind Mitchell and Havili (who is sneaky effective despite missing some footy) as our 7th? string middle.

But, I think as a guy outside the top 17, who is asked to play 10 games off the bench, he’s a solid option. I just struggle with him being an autostarter every week.
