2025 Draw

6 home grounds now for Souths in 2025:

Accor Stadium (7 games)
CommBank Stadium (1 game)
Allianz Stadium (1 game)
Optus Stadium (1 game)
Suncorp Stadium (1 game)
Industree Group Stadium (1 game)

Hmmm

With the Round 17 game being moved, it now means for Souths

Round 17 - Away (Brisbane/Redcliffe)
Round 18 - Away (Manly)
Round 19 - Bye
Round 20 - Away (CommBank)
Round 21 - Home (Gosford)
Round 22 - Away (Brisbane)
Round 23 - Away (Gold Coast)

8 weeks between Sydney home games.

Brutal run, that.

Do you think that’s a bad thing?

Most every team that has a home game at Magic Round plus a game diverted for a natural disaster would have 3 home grounds this year.

We choose to take 2 games to regional areas each year. Plenty of teams take a game or two away, especially Sydney clubs (given the poor culture of Sydney-siders attending games).

And taking a game to Allianz is the equivalent of the Dogs taking a game to Belmore. It’s a trip back to our spiritual area in a period where playing permanently there isn’t possible (regardless of fault).

Bar the Roosters and Dogs games, keep an eye on attendances at the other 5 games at Accor this year and we’ll get a hint as to why we take 2 games to different markets and 1 to Allianz each year.

Cowboys in Perth and Sharks at Gosford are two well chosen home game shifts.

Yeah, at least Gosford is pretty much as much a home game as Accor (we have history there). And only needing to do the 2 Brisbane trips isn’t the end of the world.

Not like that season where we literally racked up those build the wall frequent flyer miles.

Sorry R23 is on the Gold Coast. Fixed that.

I’d also be more confident Wayne could handle that more than a JD. They did pretty well being in camp for the Covid season for Wayne’s final season in his first stint 😂

Not a fan? I have people on the central coast so maybe I’m biased in my being OK with it as an away from Homebush option. We do have a lot of support on the cenco.

And we’ve had quite a few central coast products come through our junior reps of late.

Will make the "spoon off" against the scummers in the last round even more enjoyable.

Absence and the heart and all that jazz.

It's not that bad. While Manly, CommBank are 'away' games, they're still in Sydney so no travel. Gosford is a very small trip which is easy. And we have a bye in between.

So it's just the Round 22 and 23 trips to Brisbane and the Gold Coast that will be tougher to navigate.

If you don’t have to leave Sydney, it’s not really ‘away’ these days.

Shark Park and Brookie are probably the worst away trips in Sydney but our success rate isn’t bad a those venues.

Penrith Park is only bad because their team is good. Play them at Redfern and we’d still struggle.

Even interstate away games don’t pose that much of an issue like they use to (as long as they aren’t bunched).

Travel is a bit of a hassle, but the teams have such good schedules these days that if you don’t suck, you can handle it.

Storm, Cowboys, even the Raiders have turned that ‘we only win at home thing’ on its head.

Gosford as a trip for our players and staff, meh. But I think I’m at that selfish point that I’d rather they sack it. It’s been done to death.

I'm sick of going there.

I don't see how it benefits us, rather we just play as many home games as possible at homebush

The crowd will be better at Gosford. That’s the draw of shifting it.
