ALLIANZ

They would just hire it out to bands and other events throughout the year.

It's the main reason we don't get any home games early in the season.

The venue would then become:

A major concert stadium - Tay Tay can come back each year.
A major sports stadium - SOO x 1, Semis x 2 - 3 based on Sydney clubs, GF.

Other stuff that I can't think of.

And maybe, just maybe the Good Friday clash, because it corresponds with the Easter show.

Not sure why they don't do a double header on Good Friday tbh.

You could have Rabbitohs/Dogs followed by / preceded by Tigers/Parra.

Make a real day of it.

(and yes I know it's a major religious festival, but that ship's already sailed).

I
I imagine Dogs would move more games to Belmore if they can get council approval, with Bankwest a 2nd option and Accor a "major" venue for derbies and Finals.

For us, it seems that if Accor stays the same as it has for the majority of the last decade (sans new screen), we'll be out at Allianz. While the Dogs might be hamstrung by only a 27000 capacity at Bankwest, Allianz will hold any crowd we can draw unless we have the Roosters in a home final.

I don’t think the dogs want to play all their games out of Belmore, corporate facilities are too important
They’re on the way up again & we're the same, both clubs need to play out of a modern stadium where corporate partners get the best coverage via big screens & sideline advertising etc as well as entertaining sponsors
As far as tech goes, ACCOR is pretty good

People sometimes forget that a large part (for better or worse, likely the largest part) of the equation is simply the bottom line take-home revenue from playing a game.

Clubs will play wherever they can make the most guaranteed dollars.

They’ll take certainty over volatility or fan desire.

And playing in an empty stadium is a cost of doing business they can live with at times it seems.

This is where the NRL should step in and provide stimulus for clubs to perhaps take some more chances to prioritise crowds and venue appropriate scheduling, above and beyond any financial certainty provided by playing at an undesirable venue.

If Graham Annesley did his job instead of worrying about saving the referees from people saying nasty things about them, we could help clubs bridge the gap between financial planning needs and fan interest.

They can make Accor the greatest stadium in the southern hemisphere and it'll still be too cavernous for the average NRL game.

Bring the stands right up to the field by converting it into a rectangular pitch, add a roof, tarp the empty areas and 10k will feel just fine.

Although we do need to accept that the "loudest" part of the oldest loudest proudest is just a straight up lie.

Announced this morning the Brisbane Olympics soccer will be played at Allianz in 2032

Then Nine and Fox will cut that s*** out immediately

To be fair, the TV stations really don’t care (I wouldn’t think) where the product is played, as long as they get their product
I agree that the NRL should be doing a little more to encourage crowd attendance at the same time as growing the tv viewership. One doesn’t need to be at the expense of the other.

You do understand “loud” can be both literal and figurative right?

I call the fact that EVERYONE talks about a random Souths guy at every sporting event around the globe as loud. What other team has that sort of appeal. Definitely loud.

I haven't flown for some time now but I would consider flying down for an Allianz game instead of going out to a near empty Accor game...

As much as I would love for Souths to play at Allianz (I am Eastern Suburbs based), I do not think that Allianz will provide the same incentive as Accor to play there.

If Souths are guaranteed a good income from Accor (regardless of the crowd) then Souths should stay put.

We have been at Homebush for so long that my children do not have the memories of Moore Park as a home ground like I did at their age etc

They even got a quote off Nat Butcher saying how Moore park is roosters territory, the shit stick, he was brought up & funded by Souths Juniors, May have even played against Moore Park
