2025 Positivity

Fascinated to see if Dotoi is deemed a rounded enough footballer to stay down post Summer. Just from a physical perspective, he ticks a sizeable box for this team. Haven’t really seen him play other than some highlights, so no idea if there’s any substance there. But from the cover, there’s a lot to like.

Just on face value there is a lot to like. That didnt sound right. Only just turned 21, played for PNG also and would be good outside back depth for 2025. I hope he stays.

I thought some of the png players we saw in rep games would have been snapped up earlier .... very talented group and hard hitters and runners!

It’ll have as much impact as your suggestion that the club needs to get the players to take performance enhancing drugs.

The club don’t give a flying **** what a bunch of keyboard warriors have to say. And yes I’m including myself in the group.

Sometimes people need to realise we’re a fan forum, not special advisers to the club on Recruitment, retention, training methods, high performance, commercial operation of the club and especially not coaching.

They don't enhance performance, they help to heal injuries and it wouldn't surprise me that a team that has won 4 comps in a row and has little injuries and quick recovery times with injuries is already doing it.

Did i tell the club directly to do it?

Do i ring wayne bennett and tell him to play Trell at 6 instead of 1?

Do I call Blake Solly and tell him who to recruit?

No I just post my thoughts and opinions on here instead just like everyone else does...

Everything you just shit on and saying we shouldn't talk about is basically all the things we talk about on this forum, recruitment, retention, training methods, where we should play, high performance etc

A forum is a place for discussion on all things souths.

We show support for the club in other ways, membership, going to games, buying merchandise

If a positive thread helps you sleep better at night, go for it.

Finding it hard to be positive right now, but I'm sure it will come again.

Way to miss the point.

As mentioned in another thread, we made the Grand Final in 2021 and at that point the cover for the 2 stars out currently were Taafe and Knight.

I think Gray and Duncan are an improvement on that, which is progress.

Last year our halves solution options were Ilias and Hawkins and Teaupa. This year they’re Dodd and Sullivan and Ward.

Again, I think that’s an improvement.

For the last few years our backrow rotisserie fill-in’s were Host and Chee Kam. This year they’re Aitken and Hubner (and Host, who isn’t a star but receives more hate than he deserves is still around).

Again, an improvement.

We may very well do it tough with injury to start the year, but we also have a new coach and different depth at the club.

In fact, most of our off season recruitment was depth building, not star power.

So if we have some injury tough periods, there’s every chance we deal with those better in 2025 than we did in 24.

Injuries happen, it’s how you deal with them.

And at the end of the day,

1 Gray, 2 Munro, 3 Wighton, 4 Graham, 5 Tass, 6 Walker, 7 Dodd, 8 Moale, 9 Mamouzelos, 10 Arrow, 11 Koloamatangi, 12 Fletcher, 13 Duncan

14 Tatola, 15 Havili or Keppie, 16 Hubner, 17 Humphreys

Isn’t a fundamentally poor round 1 lineup.

By round 4 AJ and Aitken will be back.

And by Round 7 Trell will join them.

No Murray for the year sucks, but it’s gonna be ok. The team is bigger than one player.

Before the curse of seasons recent past struck again....I posted something along the lines of 'lets just pack up the tents and go back home, hide in a cave and let life pass us by'.

Shit happens in professional sport and whether due to bad luck or bad planning ( how do you plan to have your squad decimated? ) it is just that - it is what we have to deal with.

We don't have a fractured training staff this year and we have undoubtedly the best coach/ man manager in the game at the helm of this 'drifting hulk'.

We are going again to have to rely on the next man up mentality this year and rely on untried and potentially unready guys to carry us through. Dress rehearsal and auditioning for their suitability for a future in the NRL.

Not ideal from a competitive perspective against Clubs less impacted ( so far ) but ideal for sorting out who is going to make it from those that won't in the NRL.

As a group there is no doubt that our high expectations have been dealt a severe blow but at the same time some potential good may come out of this.

Not saying it is going to be pretty but it will be interesting to see it develop.

Glory, glory

That line up is filth. I’m positive of that.
