2024 Finals: Other Matches

A lot of good match ups to watch in this game. Harry Grant v Mitch Kenny, Paps v Edwards, both wings Turuva & To'o v Coats & Warbrick. I think Storm will have Penrith in the wing clash. (Whoever recruits wingers for the Storm should be recruited by us). The real interest for me is the halves, Cleary & Luai v Hughes & Munster. Storm may have an edge in the halves too.

Two best sides all year got what they deserve.

Nice little narrative that the Storm beat the Panthers in their first GF attempt in this run. It’s taken them 3 seasons to get back there, so will be interesting to see the master/apprentice dynamic at play.

Not that I’ll watch it.

Normally I'd go for the Panthers over the Storm, but I really don't want to see them go 4 in a row. There's nothing between them, but I just feel like the loss of NAS is a big disadvantage given Penrith's ridiculous middles. Let's see what the 2 best spines in the comp can dish up as entertainment on Sunday.

Storm beat them in the first half. 22-0. I think Storm were first to score early in the 2nd half too to make it 26-0. Not 100% sure but I'll go with it.

I am not a die hard fan - I’m not a live fast die young fan either. In fact I don’t want to live for ever either- but especially if South’s
A) never win or

B) always win

Just wish they would win or lose playing good football and being in the contest - I really don’t want to be a fan at all when they don’t turn up or turn it up.

It doesn’t matter if you win or lose until you lose…..

Storm by 4 I think or Penrith by 6 if I disagree

But

On finals form I was strongly leaning towards The Storm

But watching all the player interviews I’m getting the feeling the Penrith players are really going to rise to the occasion

I think Bellamy will go after The Riffs smaller wingers with high kicks.

If Cleary plays 80 I think The Riff go four in a row. They aren’t the type of team to forget what happened 5 years ago either

As simplistic as it sounds I would be surprised if it doesn't work out this way-

If Panthers win, bet, Panthers 1-12 and unders
If Storm win, Storm head-to-head and overs.

I think Storm win and I would actually be surprised if they don't.

To all those who are saying the game is boring because it is between the Storm and Panthers, I say it would be a far far more boring game, like 2022, if it were either of those teams against anyone else.

New prediction- Klein by 3 six agains or possibly Munro by an inconclusive CD camera angle on a contested disruptor

Cleary should be the spot target. He let in tries in last year’s GF (miss led to Broncos 1st try a tackle later, missed tackles let in Broncos 3rd and 4th tries), as well as Cody’s, when his shoulder was 100%.

Interesting take.

I didn't watch the game last week, but all the "experts" were raving about Cleary's defence.

(not saying you're wrong btw).

I'm interested in the "battle" of the back 3. I think Melbourne will fall into a trap if they try to target Penrith's back 3.

I think Melbourne will win and I think they'll win through the middle. Grant and Hughes in tandem.

Crichton always worth a try in a big game. His absence might be enough for the Storm.

For fun, no Chricton (yes, game changes yadda, yadda...):
2020: Storm 26-14
2021: Rabbitohs 12-8
2022: Panthers 22-12
2023: Broncos 24-20

I thought it was because he was trying to shield Luai and his shoulder. Luai goes off and Cleary was unleashed to do Cleary...nekk minnit...game over.

Luai didn't really have anything to do with the tries conceded. No doubt Cleary had the greatest 20 minute GF ever.

Who is your tip for Sunday and why?
